  INTRODUCTION

Though a beautiful piece of kit, one thing the official Plus 3 disk interface hardly excelled at was running games transferred from tape to disk. This was mainly due to the ADFS rom taking up huge chunks of memory, thus pushing page up to &1D00.

Thankfully, Slogger came to the rescue with the T2P3 ROM and this managed to get the majority of games up and running from disk. Below are a couple of disk images containing some T2P3 files.

  ADFS 320k DISK IMAGES

Disk 1
3D-Dotty, Arcadians, Boxer, Bug Blaster, Chuckie Egg, Cylon Attack, Guardian, Magic Mushrooms, Percy Penguin, Psycastria, Quest, Qwak, Rockfall, Tetris, Vegas Jackpot, Vindaloo

Disk 2
Bumble Bee, Cybertron Mission, Electron Invaders, Escape From Moonbase Alpha, Felix Meets the Evil Weevils, Frenzy, Killer Gorilla, Jet Power Jack, Moon Raider, Positron, Rubble Trouble, Stock Car, Swoop, Danger UXB, Zalaga

Disk 3
Elite, Hopper, Meteors, Monsters, Planetoid, Repton 3, Repton 3 Editor, Snapper, Starship Command

UMM, SO WHAT USE ARE THEY?

Well in terms of Emulation, not much really. T2P3 files take longer to load than normal disk images and UEF files, so this kind of negates the point of using them within an emulator. However, if you have an actual Electron with Plus 3 interface + T2P3 rom, you may be able to write the ADF images back to a 3.5" floppy disk (making sure it's NOT a high density one) using the FDC program (available on the Essentials page). You will need to enter the following commands:

BBC640
FD0
WRITE0 T2P3-1.ADF

Unfortunately, not all floppy disk controllers on moderns PCs support single density mode so there's a chance that this might not work, but the only way you'll find out is by trying the above!

  WOT NO ROM?

If you have an Electron with Plus 3 unit but are lacking the T2P3 rom, you could either:

  WOT NO GAMES?

If you've got as far as this, you'll probably be wanting to get your hands on some more games. If this is the case, you could always download FREEUEF from the ElectrEm homepage and start transferring files from the main UEF archive back onto cassette. You can then use the transfer facility built into the T2P3 rom to convert the newly-created tapes to disk.

If you are able to, please consider submitting any new T2P3 files/images you might have created so I can add them to those already available. To transfer ADFS disks across to PC, follow the procedure for FDC above, replacing WRITE0 with READ0.

  WOT NO PLUS 3?

If you have a different disk interface such as the Pres Plus 4, Cumana DFS or Pegasus 500 *AND* the equivalent Slogger T2 rom, e.g. T2P4, T2CU & T2Peg respectively, you should still be able to use the T2P3 files above. Dave of EUG carried out limited testing with a T2P3 & T2CU and it seems files between these two systems are interchangeable. You will of course need to find a way of transferring the ADFS disk images across to the same format your disk interface uses!
