Comments:   Nice to see Wallaby and VTOL out there. I wrote them in 1983/4 with Pete Johnson when we were distributing through Superior. VTOL never was fully released, it rapidly grew beyond the capacity of the system, if I remember correctly I was using 6522 VIA shift registers as variable storage and having to do 4 partial compiles before I gave up. It got loose through a trade show demo somehow so while the project dies the code remains .... I know I have the source disks lying around for that somewhere........Dave Lovekin 20 years on .....

Have tried to use MakeUEF but can't get it to close off after reading the 6 program set. Please help!

Comments:   hello to everyone involved with the website - when i found this, i had a big grin on my face because you've got all the UEF tape images available!! the answer to my pleas! i always wanted to find somewhere to download them as sound files to play into my bbc micro! this has given my bbc a new lease of life - i now have the games i remember playing way back when, and also some which i saw but never had chance to play - i saw copies of 'aviator' and 'jcb digger' at my local library one rainy day back in '85 and thought they looked great, but didn't have a beeb to play them on...nice to see people are still getting hold of beebs and still playing the games and enjoying them. i don't think i will ever tire of playing the old games.so thanks to you all. what a wonderful website.

I have BeebEM and stack of SSD images to live my prep-school wasted evenings once again in front of FireTrack, Imogen, or Repton.I'm currently spreading the word and popularity of Beeb games through programming my graphical calculator in the z80 ASM language. The two main ports out at the moment are Repton and Fire Track - check out the website link above for details and/or screenshots. Keep up the great site!

Comments:   What can I say? We're not worthy... we're not worthy...A magnificent site. I spend a fortune buying the fastest PC I possibly can, and then spend my time playing Repton 3! That's a real efficient use of the technology I'm sure! My other half is utterly baffled. I've tried to explain that it's retro paradise -- when you play games the emulator even flickers the screen in the same way!

Comments:   Re: one of the entries in your Lost & Found section - the game you have listed as Beyond Infinity is actually called Cute To Kill (as one of the screenshots clearly states). The "Beyond Infinity" bit alludes to the backstory (the scrolling message on the loader screen reads "Beyond Infinity... Part 2: Cute To Kill").Also, to clarify - it was indeed released by Mandarin - I vividly remember an advert for both Icarus and Cute To Kill. I think the ad was in A&B Computing at some point. Great game, as well.

Comments:   I have and electron with home made EPROM interface and printer port. I have lots of games orginal and copies. I used to get my games for 10p from Program Power...How you ask. Well they were based in Leeds, so used to get the bus into town and walk to their offices. They would let you play on their games. The had a box full of supposidly blank tapes which they sold for 10p. These tapes still had the program power lables on. I would by 10 from my pocket money and when I got home about 8 of them would work. There were only missing the instructions leftlet.

Comments:   Me again! I just remembered I purchased a Slogger Plus 1 compatiable module, it was a cheap alternative to the real Plus 1. It had two cart slots, and a connector for you to plug into a cable to go to a printer, and I think one spare ROM slot. Anyway, while I was a student I had to do an electronics project for my studies. I ended up designing and making a serial card that plugged into the Plus 1 cart slot, it used the 16550 UART chip (16 byte FIFO input/output buffer), I think I might still have the design laying around here somewhere, so if anyone wants to jump back into their time machine and do some stuff for their Electron, make a serial card etc, give me a email and I will see if I can find the circuit schematic. After I built it, it did actually work very well. Even had a LED which you could turn on and off when your software handed sending and receiving data across the serial port. I didnt however complete the terminal software to use with the serial card, but I did manage to send data across the port using some simple BASIC program testing. Its great to think back to all the 1000's of hours I spend typing in all the programs in the magazines (Electron User, Acorn User) - was annoyed when Acorn User had programs that only worked on the BBC/Master/ARM etc. I managed to port allot of programs that didnt work for the Electron, so that they did, unfortunately I lost all of that stuff and my own software when I sold my Electron. Moral of the story, NEVER EVER sell your hard work. You could appreciate it 10 fold one day in the future. The proof is here, with all those who love to use and play with the Electron again. I am very happy I can also, but im kicking myself (very hard) for selling my own Electron and all the software that I got for it and also the software that I made for it!

Comments:   Damn damn damn! I love the emulator and all the old games I can now download for free! Damn damn again, I sold my Electron to a school back in 1993 when I was a student and also all my tapes of software brought from the UK. I also sold all my tapes filled with all my own software too, I11 wished I hadnt now and made a copy of them so I could see all my old software alive again. I had heaps of fun with my electron, it was a great building block to becoming the software engineer I am today. Playing these games again and even looking at the introduction tape brought back lots of memories. I remember writing some software using the built in assembler with the BASIC interpreter.. FOR O%=0 to 3 step 3:OPT O%: [ LDA #65:JSR $FFEE ] : NEXT etc etc etc, it was great stuff! I love the web site and give you guys 1000's of thank you's for creating it and bringing back some of the greatest memories of this machine I can think of.

The Acorn Electron Haven site is now on line and has to be a 'must visit' site for all of you interested in a 'new breed of Electron discs'. 100s of them available, many made compatible with ADFS 1D00 (Plus 3) disc systems; all including EU and EUG reviews, instructions, loading screens and solutions. It's being created as you read this. Come and visit it.

Comments:   I have today journeyed back to a time when a 32k brick delivered a supper computer into my bedroom. The enjoyment and simple pleasures of time came flooding back. It took me back to the days when I used to provide technical support for Acorn User magazine at their yearly shows. I remember the excitement of the world of computing that was opening up before me and this site has brought back so much of that feeling. I would like to express my gratitude for being given this glimpse into my youth, and the oh so pleasant memories this has rekindled.

I grew up with the Acorn BBC Micro in Highschool and it was the first computer I did any serious programming with. Back in the days when PC's where those other things we would have never touched! Congrats!! GREG

I remember spending months playing guess-the-verb with this one. Had problems getting emulators to work but BeebEm 1.32 seems ok (couldn't get the latest release to work). Have also downloaded Felix & the Evil Weevils as i remember that one as a classic.

Remember the large pile of Electron Users? The WHSMith tape recorder? hehe...also anyone remember the Electron User club started in 1988 with Dave Smith, Emma Byne and myself (amongst others)..

Comments:   booop-beep... TSTH is the best site I've seen for games (UEF rocks!), but the Documents section is the icing on the cake. It's great to see all this stuff again as it gives you a flavour of what it was like back then. How many of us Beeb veterans use Linux now? I'd say a fair number - it's almost what the beige box prepared us for (and what rescued many a forlorn hacker when Acorn pulled the plug.) Dave has obviously been doing a lot of good work so go on and send him some money. Right On Commander!

Comments:   Excellent site, took me back to my £400 investment. I think I still have bags full of old (mostly original) software, some disks, a couple of BBCs, a double disk drive, some ROMS (solidisk and a set with the usual wordprocessor, database, etc) and stacks of magazines. If you think you might find them useful and your around the North East sometime, email me to give me notice and I'll climb into the loft to retrieve them. In return you can transfer a few of the tapes you haven't got to PC emulation. I particularly liked one where you rolled barrels and triggered switches to match target, Earthquake I think it was called.

Thanks for enabling me to relive my first proper computing experience with Jet Power Jack on the Elk :) (OK so we had a ZX81 before then but that was just poor!) I just wish I had broadband so I could download all the games I used to play on the elk and Beeb! If anyone has all the electron user and micro user subscriber's tapes/discs could you let me know? It would make a great present for my Dad :)

I've been looking for a reference copy of Repton 3, so I can write my own PC version and managed to get completely sidetracked playing all the games I used to waste so much time with when I was younger. Comments:   Oh Wow! Thank you to whoever uploaded Bandits! Oak Software Ltd was a company I helped set up many years ago... it had a short life, and it only did a few games. I wrote Bandits myself and thought that the image was lost forever... Bouncing Bill was written by John Cupitt (The same one that features as a referee in Kick Off2). There is one more game... called "The Quest" it had 3D graphics of sorts, and was an adventure game... if anyone out there has this (it is rarer than Bandits) I would be thrilled to get that one too. If anyone has originals cassettes and boxes of any of the 3 Oak Software titles, look after them well, they are *very* rare. With good wishes, -Dino

Comments:   Great site. I'm still looking for an emulator that can emulate the extreme jiggery-pokery that I, Marcus & Ian programmed for Uridium on the Beeb. I started doing an elk version in the summer of 88 but decided that it wasnt worth the effort. Instead I wrote some other games: Dragon Quest (2-way scroller with a huge flying dragon, multiple power-ups), Victor Astrorum (shoot-em-up horizontal scroller, parallax star field - was able to single pixel hardware scroll if plugged into a t
