Solution

From the starting point go right and climb the first ladder to get the scroll (note: always avoid the guards!), then down to the ground, go right, jump the first gap and go down the second. Jump all the way to the right and climb again to the surface. Again go right, climb the ladder, kill the guard, go down second ladder and get second scroll. Retrace your path left until you come to the first gap.

Go down, down ladder, jump all the way left and climb up left to the surface. Go right, collect the third scroll and right again for an extra life. Back to the gap to your left.

Go down, down first ladder, left and down ladder again, kill the guard and collect another extra life. Down left again.

Go left, down ladder, jump left, climb ladder, jump left, down two ladders and then right along ground. Go down, down ladder, left, up ladder, left, down two ladders and then right to collect the first part of the sword.

Retrace your steps to the surface, go right and down next gap. Right, down ladder, jump right, down two ladders, left and down a level then right, down a ladder, jump right and collect an extra life.

Then up ladder, right, down two ladders, along ground to left, down, down a ladder, jump left, up a ladder, left and up to another level. Up left, jump left and up left again for second part of sword.

Retrace your steps down and right, then down, right, down two ladders, right, down, right, down ladder and across bridge to the right. Then up ladder and right and up to next level. Up the ladders (leave bottle for now), right, down ladder, right, up ladder, up, left, up two ladders, left, down ladder, left, up ladder, left (ignore dragon below you!) and up again.

Up ladder, left, up, left, down ladder (collect life), left, up ladder and up to the surface. Go right, up two ladders and right across drawbridge for an extra life then right, down two ladders for last piece of sword. Assemble sword in the correct order.

Descend again to the dragon. Avoid its fire and run at it. Hopefully you kill it! Collect bottle (remember where that was?) and climb again to drawbridge. Climb down ladders to the right and go right into castle.
