Introduction from original paperwork

As the pilot of an intergalactic spacecraft, you have searched the galaxy for the kidnapper of your crew member Shauna. Your mission has led you to an enormous space station, devoted to scientific study and experimentation, where you have finally docked in berth 5820. Your spacecraft is battered and on the verge of collapse. Only the "hull integrity system" is preventing loss of atmosphere and that, too, will fail in a few seconds time!

You are on the last stages of the hunt. Your search for Shauna is almost over. All you must do now is escape to the space station, explore it and find Shauna, and return with her to the flight deck of your ship.

Note

GROFF or TEXT will turn off the graphics, while GRON or GRAPHICS will turn them back on.

Solution

Start in cockpit of your spacecraft. E (large cargo hold - see gyropac), WEAR GYROPAC, W, W (escape pod), TAKE SCRAP of material (from the kidnapper's clothing), E (now beside ship), WAIT (if necessary, until taxi arrives), HIRE TAXI (now at customs), INV. DROP NOTE (it is counterfeit and you can't enter the spacestation while you are carrying it), W (declared "clean"), W, SW.

Now find a lugobot - usually somewhere between arrivals and departure area. TELL LUGOBOT TO FOLLOW. Now go to arrivals area if not already there.

NW, NW, NE, N, N, E, E (generator room), PULL LEVER (switches forcefields on and off in the quarantine area and magnolabs), W, W, S, SW, D (very dark room), SEARCH (you find a trapdoor), OPEN TRAPDOOR, D (entrance to quarantine area), W (okay if turned forcefield off). Explore this area. If you have deactivated the forcefield, a monkey and dog have been released from their cages. You can't carry both at the same time, so TAKE MONKEY then return to beginning of short corridor, then go SW (dark alcove), D, E (vast torture chamber), TAKE lead HELMET, EXAMINE HELMET (heavy with a large spike inside), TAKE SPIKE, W, U, NE, E, U, U, NE, N (outside X-Ray room), WEAR HELMET (okay if removed spike), N, D (research laboratory), TAKE beta SPECS, U, S, S, S, SW, SE, E, E (west of long corridor), REMOVE HELMET (which you automatically drop), WEAR SPECS, LOOK (see laser beam to east at knee height), JUMP E (can now see laser beam to east at chest height), CRAWL E then JUMP E (now at west side of research hall), E, S, TAKE LETTER, READ LETTER (note colour - random), N, NE (see test tube containing a ball bearing), EXAMINE TUBE (thin), TAKE BALL bearing (the monkey gets it for you), SW, W, N (see many coloured bits of gunge), TAKE **** GUNGE (**** being the colour specified in the letter), S, JUMP W, CRAWL W, JUMP W, W, W, DROP MONKEY, DROP LETTER, REMOVE SPECS (which you automatically drop).

NW, NE, N, E, E (by large vat of liquid), SWIM, TAKE DEACTIVATOR, SWIM (back on walkway), W, W, S, SW, SE, SE (arrivals area), U, U, W (gallery), S, W, W, S, S (old foozball court - see a robodroid), DEACTIVATE ROBODROID, EXAMINE ROBODROID (hint), TAKE HAND (need coloured gunge), SW, TAKE BAT, NE, N, N. {save position here}. The servobot won't give the lugobot a task if you are present so TELL LUGOBOT TO GET LOST and WAIT until told servobot has given it the static shield and told to get some samples. The servobot always travels clockwise, so wait until it has just left your location then follow the galley around in a clockwise direction until you catch up with lugobot. TELL LUGOBOT TO FOLLOW and continue around until you can go E to top of stairs, being very careful not the meet the servobot. Return to arrivals area.

NW, NW, N, W, TAKE LEASH, E, S, NE, N, SW, D, D, W (quarantine area again). Find the dog and TAKE DOG (need leash), EXAMINE SCRAP (of material - has the scent of the kidnapper), GIVE SCRAP TO DOG (don't worry about him eating it). Now return to entrance to quarantine area. U, U, NE, N, E, E (generator room), PULL LEVER (to turn forcefields back on), W, W, S, S, SW, SW, SW (now in a spacemaze - the dog should be straining to go in a particular direction - follow "his nose" and note directions taken for future use). You should now be in the restricted area with the dog wanting to go northwest., NW (into magnolab but man pushes you out - note his squeaky voice), DROP DOG, U (gallery overlooking magnolab), DROP BALL bearing (it enters the forcefield and shoots right through man), D, NW (okay if killed man - should now see his dead body), EXAMINE BODY, TAKE IDENTIFICATION, EXAMINE IDENTIFICATION (says "Fred Bloggs").

W, W (fork), SW, S (north end of electrostatilab with large metal grid stretching across path to the south), SIT ON LUGOBOT, S (okay if lugobot has static shield), SW, TAKE SAMPLES, GIVE SAMPLES TO LUGOBOT, SE, TAKE laser GUN, NE, NW, SIT ON LUGOBOT, N, N, NE, E, E, SE, S (in spacemaze), SW, NE (out of spacemaze), NE, SE, SE (arrivals area), U, U, W, WAIT (until servobot takes static shield and samples and gives gas cylinder to lugobot), TAKE CYLINDER, EXAMINE CYLINDER (contains helium), E, D, D (arrivals area), NW, NW, SW, SW (in spacemaze again), SW, SW, N, NW, S, S, SW, N (back in restricted area), NW, W, W, W, W (west end of exhibition hall - see a forcefield), GIVE GUN TO LUGOBOT, INV (ensure lugobot only carry the laser gun), tell lugobot to FIRE GUN AT FORCEFIELD (forcefield collapses but gun explodes, destroying lugobot and anything it may have been carrying), LOOK, TAKE METAL, W (by scarlet door). Now find the dog and return here. OPEN CYLINDER, SAY FRED BLOGGS (door opens), IN (if dog with you he kills man with gun who he recognizes as the kidnapper), LOOK (see dead body), EXAMINE BODY (see a receipt), DROP CYLINDER, DROP DOG, TAKE RECEIPT, EXAMINE RECEIPT (note number).

OUT, E, E, E, NW, N, N, W. Wait until guardroid appears then go east until you meet the aggrodroid. LOOK until guardroid and aggrodroid glare at each other. GIVE BAT TO GUARDROID (it pulverizes the aggrodroid), E, E, E (end of corridor), S (recycling room), INSERT METAL (something is ejected), LOOK, TAKE ROD, N, W, W, W, LOOK (until guardroid appears), KILL GUARDROID WITH ROD, W, W, W (tool storage area), N, NE, TAKE pneumatic STAMP, EXAMINE STAMP (a hammer), SW, HAMMER SPIKE INTO WALL, DROP STAMP, U (to top of chute), TAKE CARD, EXAMINE CARD, D, S, E, E, E (T-junction), S, S, SE, E, E, SE, S, SW, NE, NE, S (by door with handprint key), INSERT HAND (the one from the robodroid - the door slides open), IN (berth control centre), INSERT CARD, TYPE **** (**** being the number from the receipt - note the entry code), TYPE 5820 (the berth number for your own spacecraft - note the entry code).

OUT, N, SE, SE (arrivals area), SW, SE (departure area - should see a waiting taxi), IN (now in taxi), TYPE **** (*** being the berth for the kidnapper's spacecraft), TYPE **** (*** being the entry code), OUT (now inside kidnapper's spacecraft - see Shauna), EXAMINE SHAUNA (unconscious), TAKE SHAUNA, LOOK, HIRE TAXI (taken to customs), W, W, SW, SE (departure area), IN (taxi), TYPE 5820, TYPE 0070 (to berth), OUT, IN (own spacecraft, with Shauna, to complete adventure).
