Nice renderings. We've probably exhausted the discussion about the details of the Electron's history on here already, but with regard to the Thumb enhancements for ARM, someone making these kinds of videos probably needs to look into the SuperH architecture to get some additional historical context.

Also, although the AT&T Hobbit comes up in the context of the Newton, it was used in the original BeBox, so it wasn't the kind of failure suggested, just commercially unsuccessful. The CRISP architecture that was the basis of the Hobbit also has some intriguing elements with the way it has a variable instruction length but employing regular encodings for each kind of the parcels comprising the complete instructions. Those parcels are 16 bits wide, and so the concept of having shorter instructions for a 32-bit architecture dates from 1986 in terms of actually produced silicon.

The UMI-2B was a very direct and easy to use sequencer/MIDI interface for the BBC Micro with what appears to be rock solid MIDI timing!

Answer in May 2023: I have posted a new YouTube video about two of the UMI 2B's in Norway:

Thanks for sharing that link. I subscribe to Adrian’s channel, but at time of writing this video is not showing up on the iPad YouTube app.

Here's a couple of rare / early Archimedes demos I just captured from Arculator:

Clares Sound and Graphics Demo by David J. Hoskins 1988

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR98lmARCAo

Render Bender Animation Demo by David J. Hoskins 1988

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RJ1Inz48AE

Even with Windows 10 set to output 50Hz, the scrolling is still sadly not as smooth as it is on real hardware. The first demo capture is missing the intro text screens as I could not get the font displaying correctly.

Plenty of cheese wedges and some probably-recognisable Acorn people in here

Acorn Computers - Business Promo Video - Circa 1984

Cued up to a 16032 demo screen. Also some shots of the Acorn building on Newmarket Road, which seems to have been demolished perhaps some 20 odd years ago.

A history of ARM which includes a bit of Computer Literacy Project, Sinclair, and a fair bit on Acorn. Including Archimedes sales forecasts (optimistic! 20k in '87, 120k in '88, versus actual sales of 14k by mid-88.)

(Not sure the accuracy of the fact-checking is all it could be, in this case. But it's only 25mins.)
