Another take on the genesis and history of the 6502
The first LowSpec Processor
The first LowSpec Processor
(via Peter Mount on mastodon)For years, an ongoing battle is fought by a group of Engineers to make a product that their industry thought impossible: a processor so cheap it could change the world.
But to make it happen they would have to struggle in ways they could have never expected.

The UMI-2B was a very direct and easy to use sequencer/MIDI interface for the BBC Micro with what appears to be rock solid MIDI timing!

Might have been OK if they hadn't used the IBM PC full height floppy drives, even though full height drives existed in the early days for the BBC I suspect most people are more familiar with the half-height ones. A black and red keyboard would have been good as well.!FOZ! wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:02 pm BBC Micro in a PC case!

Not strictly Acorn, but Stardot gets a mention at the start - this is PCRetroTech experimenting with low level programming of the 6845 in a CGA card, including mid frame changes to the registers:

I think gfoot and I are in the same YouTube bubble. I've been watching those these past few days! He does mention & credit stardot in one of them for the threads on finding and documenting 6845 tricks.

Very nice indeed - BACK TO THE PET by shiru8bit - quite the test for an emulator, and something of a challenge perhaps for Mode 7 on the Beeb - amazing what can be done with character graphics.Andrew_Waite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 8:15 pm A very nice demo created on a 1979 vintage Commodore PET 4016 computer.
