I know the place very well, one of my regular cycling routes when I was younger, was coming round that way and along the river tees to middleton-one-row and round the back of the airport. :-)

My UX/UI guy that I work with for my I.T. company lives at Aycliffe, and my Parents and Sister still live in Darlington.

I personally moved back up "Home" many years ago, but as a teenager I lived in darlington and did my secondary education there, and later from 2003 to 2008, I was stationed at Oranges Northern Technical HQ and NOC based at it's campus up on Yarm Road in darlington as a senior networks engineer on the Radio Access Network team :-)

There is a big cycling presence here in the village, always see a few most days riding through the village. :D I don’t partake myself anymore getting knocked off my bike twice ( once on the A167/A1 roundabout ) was enough for me :?

Yea I can see how that might persuade you otherwise. One of the things I like about being back up home (I'm originally from North Durham) is I'm 5 minutes away from the C2C (Route 14) and The "Consett to Sunderland" (Route 7) national cycle byways.

I can get from consett to Durham, Newcastle, Metro Center, Sunderland, Stanley, and a whole heap of other places without ever touching any of the main roads now.

I remember back in my teens when the rothman cigarette factory was still open at red-hall, doing my paper round one morning, and having a 75 ton truck scream past me at about 50 mph going down McMullen road and me being about 10 cm's away from it as it did, damn was that a squeeky bum moment!!

Another Aussie pinned to the map.

BTW whoever came up with this is a genius. It's really cool being able to see where all the Acorns are at.

I don't seem to be able to add new pins, so maybe something has changed with the settings for the map.

It doesn't seem to be publicly editable anymore.

@samwise would be the person to nudge about it...

You need to have edit privilege's on the google maps page hosting the data, don't know who has though... certainly not me, that's for sure.

You need to be logged into a google account to make changes. Then you need to click the EDIT button to allow changes to be made. Without clicking EDIT it'll be in read-only mode.
