Re: Acorn & BBC User Group (ABug) NORTH 31 JAN HALIFAX
^Dave, the rest of us were on tap water, hence your cheap chip in
as some of you know, I have a new jobby (thats job, not poo ), so have to do 5 weeks training, but if I do it in quickly (probably in 2 weeks knowing me) I can then make it again
If I have to do the full hog, a quick map check says I will be 56mins away, but don't know if I can take the hired car away, depending on if any other people in the car, or handle two weeks away from my kids or wife lol

I should have enquired about power supply screws and rubber Beeb 'feet' for the last meet ... do you have stocks of those in abundance too?retroclinic wrote:I'll bring more goodies this time!
P.S. Spent yesterday going through a load of my Beebs replacing missing or rusty keyboard/case screws with complete brand new sets, thanks to my acquisitions at the weekend!

Hi Dave.
Yes, I've got Beeb and Elk (etc) feet in abundance, as well as PSU screws. Do you want me to order you a packet of each for the next meet?
I fixed up those PSUs I got from you. The ones that were still dead needed some of the output caps replacing, as well as the startup caps. You can see most overheated caps on the back of the PCB as they tend to bulge the board out.
Also one had a blown fuse, probably blew during the X2 going pop. The Wong's one had a -5v fault, caused by another bad cap and bad diode in the output section.

How much is it for a room at the hotel? If I can afford it, I'd love to join everyone for the meal Friday

Yes please, Mark!retroclinic wrote:Yes, I've got Beeb and Elk (etc) feet in abundance, as well as PSU screws. Do you want me to order you a packet of each for the next meet?
Good show - glad you got them all going. I'm very happy with my Issue 2 Beeb (which I didn't even know I had!) that was brought back to life as a result of installing the retroclinic-refurbed PSU.retroclinic wrote:I fixed up those PSUs I got from you.

They are currently £29 for the Friday and £35 for the Saturday if you pay up-front (with no cancellations allowed). The "Flexible" rate (i.e. no upfront payment required) will be about double that.hiddenevil wrote:How much is it for a room at the hotel? But be warned that the hotel will only offer a very limited number of rooms at the cheaper "saver rate" prices (I don't know how many but it might be as low as 6 per night). Once these have gone, prices will immediately shoot up to around £64+ per night.
As a couple of us have already booked rooms, I'd advise anyone looking to stay on the Friday and/or Saturday nights to book their rooms asap.

Just to say I've not booked my room yet as I have no funds until tomorrow but if anyone wants to share a twin room pm me asap and it'll halve our room costs!

I've booked. I was going on another leisure trip but I've decided to do this instead.
I will be there Friday, hopefully in time for food this time, and leaving Saturday night.

I've updated the list in the first post to include Daniels payment.
I have to make the payment for the room on the 17th (possibly the 16th) so could everyone please try to get the money to me by the end of this week if possible but by the 15th at the very latest. If that's going to be a problem please pm me.

Hi guys
I'm most certainly going to attend, I'm sorry for my silence. Had a lot happening over Christmas, not all of it good. Which sadly has kept me away from being online or even mucking around with my old machines.
Finally seem to be getting back on track, so can't wait to see you all again on the 31st.

Does anyone who's coming want an extension cable made up for their matchbox-co-pro? I'm about to order the bits and obviously it's cheaper to do a whole bunch than just one...

Sure - I'll do 10, that's 4 already spoken for, 6 up for grabs. They'll be 30cm unless anyone asks for anything different!
