Post pictures of your beeb setup
Hi all,
I love to see how people set up their beeb environments, so to start the ball rolling i am posting a pic of my current setup. I am sure this is set to exapand, BITD when i lived at my parents place my beeb setup took over the entire desk and shelves, but then i didn't have PC equipment to contend with.
So, i've shown you mine, will you show me yours?

Re: Post pictures of your beeb setup
Sorry no beebs here, just a bunch of Arcs, although the beeb's 5.25" drive is visable. The beeb's are currently packed below our bed, which is in the other corner of the room

Re: Post pictures of your beeb setup
My beeb setup is basically quite modest.
And next to me is this: Lots of floppies
But behind me is this:
No, that big tower is not a PC, it is just home to 2 SCSI harddrives and 2 SyQuest drives, for the Arc.And next to me is this: Lots of floppies

Re: Post pictures of your beeb setup
DutchAcorn, nice, what external cheese wedge do you have plugged into the beeb?

Mrs FlaxCottage won't have wires in the bedroom (unless it is to her DVD/TV set up )
The set up is very neat, though. Just like my man cave.

Nice, what are those countdowns on the screens?
Also how rare is the 32016? I always wanted one as a kid...

To have something displayed on the screen, I used VTClock.brain wrote:Nice, what are those countdowns on the screens?
I don't know how you measure "rareness". It's described as "the rarest" of Acorn second processors, but I would have thought the A500 was rarer as I thought only a few were made and used within Acorn to bootstrap development of the Archimedes.brain wrote:Also how rare is the 32016? Maybe you'll have more luck getting Mr Haysman to show and tell his new playroom When I started this topic he was obviously too busy pulling the keyswitches off Elks to show but a single pic. Now he's gone ultrasonic he might have more time.

Re: Post pictures of your beeb setup
Aye, in terms of co-processor rarity I'd say the 32016 was in third place, with the ARM Evaluation system (estimated < 100 made) in second, with the most rare one being the A500 co-pro, as Jonathan suggests.jgharston wrote:I don't know how you measure "rareness". I have a fully-functioning A500 co-pro, which I acquired from Paul Fellows (ex-Acorn). At the time he mentioned that there only would have been 2-3 of these boards produced. I've only ever known of one other board in existence - the one listed on Chris Whitehead's page (which unfortunately is missing most of the chips): http://acorn.chriswhy.co.uk/8bit_Upgrad ... dProc.html
Edit: I should add that around 10 years ago I saw a 65C102 Co-Processor (i.e. the one used in the Master Turbo) in a Cheese Wedge go on eBay. The brown label across the front of the co-pro definitely said "65C102 Co-Processor" (i.e. it wasn't Acorn's "Universal" Co-processor case) and it's the only time I've ever seen one advertised for sale. So you could say this particular co-pro + case is even rarer than the 32016 and ARM Evaluation system - as I've seen several of each of those go on eBay. Unfortunately I didn't win the auction for the 65C102 box ...

Re: Post pictures of your beeb setup
Here's my "man/geek cave" as it stands at the moment, there are a few Acorn bits missing from the pictures under the desks (i.e. another 5 Beebs, another Master, another Electron with a plus 3, an Atom, among other things ) and I'm just waiting on my second external data centre for the Beeb on the desk (I know I'm greedy thank you Mark ) and they're all connected together on an Econet network
