Tidied the excel list a bit.
Added a new column for titles that are only available on cassette and do not seem to appear on any disc.

This is only a first pass and may contain errors, as I am almost certain some I have flagged as cass only may be on disc somewhere...
e.g. Same title but marked as a different publisher, or cassette marked simply as beebug issue 6, may be on disc under the title of the software...
Anyway it is a starting point!
If you can confirm some of these titles as being available on disc, or any other errors, please let me know.

As always, the list is a .xls, so rename from .zip to .xls.

Just had a quick look at the 'cass only' titles.
The first thing that strikes me is the amount of Acornsoft titles!
Also, the Blue Ribbon releases, were these 'Original' releases? or were these re-releases of earlier titles? (Budget re-release?)
If they are re-releases I think they should be removed.

The second thing that strikes me is the amount of non-game titles that appear to be missing.
I know the STH 143 disk collection is games only, and most big collections from BITD will be game only, such as Mick's and Pernod's and probably anybody else's, but there appears to be huge chunks of educational titles missing.
Back in 82-83 I worked in a computer shop, and as well as games, we sold educational titles. A series that stands out as being missing is the Mr. 'T' titles, eg Mr T tells the time etc.
I do remember having difficulty cracking these as they had a funny loader....
Most educational titles seem to pop up regularly on eBay. Is anyone actively preserving them?

Seeing as it is games I am concentrating on at the minute, does anyone know of the contents of the BEEBUG, MICRO USER, ACORN USER, MODEL B COMPUTING, ALTERNATIVE TRIPLE DECKERS, and MICRO USER titles??
Or, does anyone know of DSD / SSD versions of any titles I have marked as cassette only?

As the last list of titles was a little daunting to look through, I have thinned it out a bit. It is just GAMES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN PUT TO DISC that I am interested in, to add to the archive.

"Stripper II Aggressive" is a utility that i loved BITD for tape to tape, as it handled Locked files, and then you could save them back as Locked so the 'clear copy' was working 100%

"Draughts Micro Power Board Games (Draughts)" , you know its on disc now

Blue Ribbon titles will probably just have the, well, blue ribbon splash screen, then the rest of original tape, nothing changed apart from their loader scn.

"Osprey Bourne "-BBC b Version , that was put into STH by me from my tape to uef, and maybe BillC shoved it onto disc 6+yrs ago, got it here if you need

"Way Of The Exploding Fist, The (V2) Melbourne House" got this on original tape and disc, nothing different

Right:
Joust definitely loads with an Aardvark loading screen, although it is corrupted on my Beebem.
The game does not play properly, but it seems to be the same as Atari's (By D.D. Harriman).

If you get a minute, would you mind looking at ACHETON on your Adventure 08, ANTHROSIN on Adventure 08, QUEST OF GONDOR on Adventure 08, OPERATION SAFRAS on Adventure 08, RETURN TO DOOM on Adventure 10, FRENCH ON THE RUN on adventure 06, BORED OF THE RINGS 1-4 on Adventure 07, and LORD OF THE RINGS on Adventure 06.

I am trying to make 1 DSD in standard DFS format of these adventures, as they either, appear nowhere else, or seem to be the best working version available.
The trouble is I am technically very poor at the minute

What I would like to know, if possible, is all the files associated with each game, and any requirements such as do they have to be on a certain side of a disk to work, because of a hack?

Disk MBDEM01: program GALAXY BIRDS loads as G*BIRDS


Get rid of these then move onto the trickier stuff

Tested Mick Brown's 6 disks of Pre-release and Re-release/alternate version software, and the results are as follows:

Disk 01 GALAXY BIRDS loads as G*BIRDS, JOUST says PIRATE COPY across the screen

Disk 02 ARCADIA, the left/right controls seem to be reversed?

Disk 03 OK

Disk 04 OK

Disk 05 OK

Disk 06 OK except MONSTER MASH must have *DTRAP set to ON to load

Gotta say though, I am not keen of the title of the disks being 'Demonstration disk' for some reason it doesn't sound right to me!
OK, maybe it suits disk 01 and disk 02 which are pre-release versions!

Having worked through the list of GAMES titles that appear on cassette but do not appear anywhere on disk, I have whittled it down to the following list.
There doesn't appear to be anything from Division 1 so a massive well done to the people (person? Arcadian? ) behind the STH disk archive!!
Some of the titles below obviously appear on disk in some form, but I am querying things such as Castle of Riddles V2.0, and Hobbit V2.0 as these will probably be a bug fix release? Also Hunchback V2.0??


@Mick Brown. I think you have Missile Control CJE on your disk 029 but have it as being by G.N.D.
The STH one is identical but has a loading screen where yours does not....


Can anyone whittle any more off the list?

Or, less likely, does anyone want to get all of that DeeKay stuff onto a disk or two?? We can all then enjoy the delights of a virtual train journey from Hull to Doncaster

I have a few of those on a disc here, along with Hewson's Southern Belle and others. Not sure yet whether the disc is still readable but it'll be dumped whenever I get the Beeb fired up again.

so play on a Master128. Can do rest later, on other PC, as this laptop is

Did you ever get time to look at extracting QUEST OF GONDOR and OPERATION SAFRAS from Adventure disc 8 onto separate .SSD discs???
I will put together a standard DSD from them with the other 6 that you have already done.
