Disk Number or title / game title / publisher would be great :D
Each post in the archive submissions with a disk attached has a copy/paste of the contents from the actual menu on the disk.

Hi Lee,

With regard to Wet Zone, the version I used was released for the BBC by a company called Everiss and the Electron version was released later by Tynesoft.

There is also a demo with slightly different graphics floating around as I believe the games was originally going to be released by Imagine Software who did it on other formats IIRC.

Removed WETZONE and SYNCRON as being too fast as they are obviously not errors 8)
Removed BANDITS by oaksoft. - My error - EXCEL must have automatically pasted AT 3'OCLOCK after I typed BANDITS.... anyway .... it's gone now :D

@Michael
I will keep an eye out for the Everiss version

@Pernod

Cheers for reminding me of that :D
I will start by copy / pasting / parsing the 11 Arcade game disks I think....

It was originally released in 1982 on the Spectrum as Arcadia.

That right Pernod and I just remembered Arcadia is on one of my Alternative disks with a old Imagine loader pasted onto it as a reminder of what could of been and also IIRC someone who worked at Imagine left and formed Everiss and may have taken the title with him.

Bruce Everiss published the BBC version of Arcadia (Wet Zone) himself after Imagine collapsed.

I had a good chat with him about the release at the 2011 Replay event, where he was a guest speaker on the Imagine panel.

A tonne of original copies of BBC Wetzone sprung up on eBay a few years ago. The only time I've ever seen copies available; fortunately I managed to snag a couple! :)

It had a pretty basic sepia-coloured inlay IIRC ...

So the Beeb version was released by Everiss and the Tynesoft release was Electron only?

Dr Who originally needed a ROM inside the BBC, so other versions should be considered unofficial (except the Master version!)
Exile detects the presence of sideways RAM, and asks to use it accordingly - but who wouldn't?
I think Indoor Sports appears on Pernod's disks... If this version still doesn't work, I have a hacked disc version here.
System Wadgebury requires the level pack to be loaded. Can't remember the filenames offhand, and can't check, but I think *. will reveal the obvious files :)

Hi,
Incorporated Pernod's 60 Games disks into the list, taking it to over 5,700 entries :o
Also tidied up a bit...
BBC Disc And Tapes.zip
(660 KiB) Downloaded 165 times
**rename to .XLS please

Had a quick go at testing some of Pernod's disks.
Oooh, before I get to the results, just to mention I have named them as follows:

Pernod's magazine games: PEMAG
Pernod's maze games : PEMAZ
Pernod's acornsoft games: PEAC
Pernod's adventure games: PEAD
Pernod's war and flight sims: PEWAR
Pernod's superior software : PESU
Pernod's arcade games : PEAR
Pernod's micropower games : PEMP
Pernod's modified games : PEMOD
Pernod's platformer's : PEPLA
Pernod's space games : PESPA
Pernod's card and board games: PECA
Pernod's sport / olympic games: PESPO

So,
Had a quick go at testing these on the standard BEEB with DFS 1.20 but using an internal datacentre to load the games.

Disk PEAC01 program ARCADE ACTION gives a SYNTAX ERROR AT LINE 1 on an OLD command! don't know why??

Disk PEAC01 programs CAROUSEL and HOPPER have corrupted loading screens with *DTRAP set but are fine with it off.... again, not sure why?

Disk PEAC01 program FREEFALL menu says SPACE FREEFALL
Disk PEAC01 program JCB DIGGER has no loading tune.

Disk PEAC02 all loaded fine.

Disk PEAD01 all loaded fine.

Disk PEAD02 program ZOR'S REVENGE: RING OF TIME PART II, menu says RING OF TIME

Disk PEAD02 programs ADVENTURE QUEST, GIDEON'S GAMBLE, KINGDOM OF HAMIL, and THE SAGE OF ERIK THE VIKING all crash with the *DTRAP on but load fine without it, and again, I am not sure why.

Disk PEAD03 all loaded fine.

Well that's the first 5....
I am not going to list any more naming issues with Pernod's disks because of the Menu type he has used, the names have to be shortened anyway so this would be pointless I think.

Onto the next 5 :D

Exactly, many titles are truncated so that I could get as many as possible into two columns.

What does *DTRAP do? Those that fail are probably expecting PAGE to be &1900.

certain MartinB's UPURS CFS also does this to ignore the *DISC/TAPE 8)
fail are probably expecting PAGE to be &1900.
yeah, try PAGE=&1900, *EXEC !boot /CH."menu" as you mensioned DataCentre sets to 1700

More Pernod Reults:

Disk PEAD04 program SWORDS AND SORCERY does not load (LOOKS TO DISK)
Disk PEAD05 program SECRET SAM 1 the cursor is on
Disk PEAD 06 program SURVIVOR does not load with DTRAP on
Disk PEAD07 program SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4 does not load
Disk PEAD08 program SEA ADVENTURE crashes / locks up
Disk PEAD09 program DODGY GEEZERS PART 1 crashes with DTRAP on
Disk PEAD10 all OK

that's the adventures out of the way.

@Pernod,
Col is spot on about the DTRAP command.
It cures more than it breaks but in these instances I think it is just the PAGE setting that is throwing the relocations.
Any 'problems' that say DOES NOT LOAD WITH DTRAP SET load absolutely fine with PAGE at &1900 or DTRAP off.
Just the ones that say DOES NOT LOAD, does not load either with it on or off.

Been looking over the Excel sheet and noticed quite an important piece of information missing, whether the game is the tape or disk version. Recommend adding a Source column containing Tape/Disk/Typed (for magazine type-ins).
I could probably quickly add this information for most of my disks.

Hi,
That would be great Pernod.
Will add the column now, however, I am not sure (apart from the odd few that already mention that they are the disk version) how to be sure what they are??
If MB could chime in, and anyone involved with the STH disk collection that would be appreciated.
I will fill in what I can now......

Is it OK to use D for disk C for cassette and T for typed? then I can use 1 letter only :D
Thanks. :D

Hi Lee,

In my excel sheet some games are listed as Disk Version next to the name.

also some say disc edit where they are edited for disk from tape copies like Lode Runner.

if you check over to the right there are other variables used.

uef - means copied entirely from tape image.
HV - Hybrid Version, loaders from tape image, main game from disk hack.
CCD - Copied from a copied disk hack.

any game that is left blank or has CCD still needs checking against a original tape copy (when and if they become available to us!).

Hope this helps
Mick.

Hi Lee,

Public Domain - bit of a vague one that is.

I have used the term Public Domain mainly where I have aquired a game from someone on a copied disk and cannot find any details within the code of the author or software house or any mention in a magazine or now via the internet.

Since collecting my original games I have been able to use various internet sites to correctly identify the Software House or Magazine publisher for many games that I used to call Public Domain.

The games left now in my excel sheet with Public Domain at the side are of unknown origin, however, it is possible that some may have been on special edition magazine tapes and disks or may have been pre-releases of games that were then issued with different titles like Pyramid became Crypt Capers etc etc.

Maybe at some point we can have a list of all unknown games and someone out there (possibly a forum member that may have even wrote it) may be able to shed light on them.

Also it may be an idea to list games that were issued by different software houses under different titles like Merry Xmas Santa from Icon being re-issued as Santa's Delivery by Tynesoft.

One last important issue is where games have been typed in from magazines incorrectly but a original tape or disc copy issued by the magazine has now become available so errors that occured during typing can be rectified.

That should keep you busy Lee!

Mick.

It cured quite a lot..... including that one :D

One for Mick Brown,
Mick, on your software list excel sheet, what does (E) and (P) mean??
I take it (E) is electron version, but some of the Disk menus don't mention an (E) when the list does??
Cheers.

**Just incorporating the source (DISK / CASSETTE / HYBRID etc) into my list.
I think type-in is going to be a tricky one to define.
Some mention OD (original disk) for magazine games. Is this right??
