BeebUG Magazines

This is where we keep track of who is scanning what, so we can avoid duplicating work and also define conventions/standards etc

I'm just downloading these now. I've never read the Beebug mags before so I'm sure I'm in for a treat.

Thanks for your undoubted hard work in getting all these scanned in so others can enjoy them too :D

Finally, some cupboard space back! Right, if you're not near Putney, London any time soon I'll try and find a box strong enough to post them in :)

A few updates on these ;-

Volume 1 is now complete (issue 1 was missing)

Volume 4 has been updated (issue 10 had been cropped a bit too well)

Volume 5 has been added (although issues 1 and 3 are suffering from my over enthusiastic cropping and need to be re-scanned)

As before I've added the links to the very first post in the message.

If you spot any missing/incomplete pages in issues I haven't flagged up please let me know so I can correct it.

Happy Reading :D :D

Where small updates are made (e.g. re-scanning or adding one or two issues to a volume), would it be possible to upload the changes separately also?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, this is great work you're doing and I enjoy these mags, and I actually prefer to download the full issues in one zip, but for the small changes, it would be great to be able to avoid downloading the full volume again (particularly with Dropbox's speed). If not, no worries, it's still great to be able to get these scans

Thanks again for continuing the scanning of these informative mags =D>

Morning Martin,

I did consider doing exactly that, but decided it would become too unwieldy and clog up the first post with too many links. Dropbox also limits the space you have unless you pay for more, and I have other scans and items there too so need to manage the available space efficiently.

When I tested the links it only took about 6 minutes of so to download Volume 4, but I realise that may not be the same for everyone.

I am trying to get the files properly hosted, so watch this space :D

Hi Andy

Another great effort from you, so a big thank you from me!

Well done =D>

Regards

Mark K.

PS the files don't take too long, as long as everyone keeps adding interesting posts to the forum, I can read while the files get downloaded

Just in time for Easter .......

Volume 5 has been updated with the erroneous issues corrected and volumes 6,7 & 8 have been added.

Samwise has very kindly provided some space on the StarDot servers, so the URL has been updated in the very first post to a new FTP site that contains all of the magazines scanned for far.

All Magazines

Have a peek in the greyscale directory and you can download individual magazines or a zip file with all 10 issues.

I only have an incomplete volume 9 left to scan now (missing issue 4, if anyone has a copy they would like to donate).

Happy reading

A while ago I noticed the link to the new addresss for the Beebug magazines.

All Magazines

I havn't stopped reading since.
Of course this opens more questions than answers.
One I would like to ask is.....
Has anyone any copies of the programs printed in the mags?
I am wondering about the disk rescue listing in 04/08.
useful for helping to recover the old disks to put them on memory cards.
Or could there be a commercial alternative? I have ADI and disk doctor on roms but neither seems to help.
Bob.

just before the article is an offer from beebug to supply the listings on disk or tape.

The STH archive has a lot of Beebug tape images in UEF format. Using UPCFS you could import them direct to the Beeb or just use them in an emulator and transfer the programs to SSD which could also be used again with a real Beeb and UPURS or a Datacentre. :D

Great stuff - just been doing some Sunday morning reading - and in colour too - even better!
I never knew the BBC community kept going to 1992 - I'd deserted it to 16bit by '87.

Update of the 8-Bit Software BeebUG scan page

ALL the BeebUG magazines are now scanned and available as PDF at:

http://8bs.com/beebugmags.htm

We are still working on updating the monochrome scans to colour, but they are all there now

I've just found this - I spent about 2 hours a few weeks ago searching through all the indexes to my bound volumes looking for an article somebody had asked me to find. I wish I'd known about it then!

I came looking because I was going to offer to scan the indexes if they weren't already available, just before I put all my Beebugs in storage, but they've already been done, so I don't need to!
