Can anyone identify this adventure game

I played an adventure game on the bbc b in the late 1980's and im trying to remember the name of it.<br>
<br>
I remember you would start in a cave or a small building and through some magic you would dissapear and appear in a big town and Alan the gribbley would be with you. You could explore pubs, libraries etc through the town to find clues about solving the game and I remember you could go in and out of diffrent shops etc and wherever you went Alan the gribbley would be with you.<br>

This sounds a bit like Jacaranda Jim, written by Graham Cluley but I might be wrong (you can download from the internet, just search on Google)? I don't remember this ever being available on the Beeb though !?!?!
