I did 'intend' on mentioning this a month or so ago but it slipped my mind and I have only just remembered.
The one from here (well, STH) does not appear to work in Beebem, I have not tested it on a real machine at this stage.
Just constantly tries to do a OLD / RUN loop
Off topic: I was going to use Quill instead but have never used that, and I have (when it was new) used GAC before so at least (assuming I can remember!) I may be able to whip something up

Re: Graphic Adventure Creator
It does that continuous loop if you are in Master mode but in Model B mode it's fine (including 1770 mode) so the version in the archive (maybe the only version?) musn't be Master compatible.
Re: Graphic Adventure Creator
Thanks Martin. I did try it in both modes
It might be due to something else (ADFS or other roms maybe interfering?) as it was no better, however it does work fine in B-Em.
The disc image is OK here, which is the important thing anyway , so my question is resolved.

Hi, Andy.
There's also the more recent Inform / Z-Machine v3 Development Environment available, if you're thinking about developing a text adventure.
If you are, whatever system you're using, feel free to talk about it over at Retro Software. We've had a couple of people launch adventure projects over there and we're always welcome to see more!
Sam.

Re: Graphic Adventure Creator
If I can be bothered to do a reader for the BBC, Grackle is a GAC reader/player for modern PCs -- it currently only plays Speccy and CPC GAC games.
Which is ironic as I did my initial reverse engineering on the Beeb version!

Re: Graphic Adventure Creator
the version in the 144menu driven disc, does not work.AndyF wrote:The disc image is OK here.
the .ssd version on its own works (as i was about to send mine to DaveM)
on BeebEm412 playing the Ransom adventure, the pic draws fine, but the text is 'off centre'.
ModelB plays ok.
PS its 'The Graphic Adventure Creator'
Re: Graphic Adventure Creator
Off topic but semi interesting fact:
I actually purchased this new for about £25 odd or so when it first appeared (although not for the Acorn platform, as I did not posses one)
I still have it so the instructions (although for the Sinclair version) are still handy.
I don't have a scanner otherwise I would 'sort' that. I must check how much of them are relevant though, I would guess most of it is. , unless there is online documentation already.

If you've bought an Acorn Electron World DVD you'll find the instruction manual for it on there! And IN FACT I think it's also available over at http://www.8bs.com/
