Record of known releases missing from archive

Post by iamaran »

Is there such a thing?

E.g.

Aussie Suds as mentioned by Pendragon in Electron User 7.03 as having been partially solved.

Thanks if I've missed the obvious.

Seriously doubt that any of the above were released for the Beeb.

But ... good work on the list, it's a great start!

About 13-years ago I remember going through all of the early A&B, Acorn User and Micro User mags and producing a similar list ... remember sending it to Robert Schmidt at TBL to have a look at ... perhaps I still have a copy somewhere (I have backups of most of my data since about '95!).

There is of course the BBC Games Archive site to use as a reference too, but a lot of the 'missing' titles listed there are dubious to say the least (I think people have emailed in saying I definitely remember so-and-so on the Beeb, when in reality, BITD they were either playing it on another platform, or are recalling a clone/type-in equivalent).

Thanks.

This page http://www.vocks.org.uk/heyley/riseincrime.htm by Howard Roberts suggests Rise in Crime was only for the Archimedes.

Just wondered why you doubt Fishy Business. The first two in the trilogy were released (Franklin's Tomb and Lost in Space) and all three were released on the Tatung Einstein of all machines...

I remember Barbara Gibb (adventure fanatic who used to contribute to Micro User in the 1980s) telling me that she believed it to be unreleased, as that was one that she was never able to obtain way back when.

And in the last ten 10 years, I've seen #1 and #2 in the wild numerous times, but have never ever (ever!) seen #3.

So it does add up ...

And Assassin by Robico is in fact just another name for 'Rick Hanson' (part 1 of the Rick Hanson Trilogy).

IIRC it was the name Robico used to release "Rick Hanson" on the Atari (though I've never been able to track down a copy of it - I think it was their only Atari release).

And just to reiterate, AUSSIE SUDS did make it to a semi-professional release. The programmer died whilst writing it but had already sent it to Barbara Gibb to playtest. She sent it on to Electron User knowing he would not want his work to have been wasted. So it was released on the Electron User 6.01 companion tape/disc:

75. Star Wars Trilogy (Domark)

This exists, there is one currently on Ebay, just all 3 Star Wars games on 1 cassette, don't think there's anything different with the games.

I discovered I have this on disk. Three separate disks in a big box. As Matthew said, don't think there's anything different with them.

Kansas City produced a game called HARLEQUIN for both the BBC and the Electron. I've never seen the Electron version, although at one point I did have the box for it. I saw the BBC version auctioned on eBay once upon a time but I believe it had a starting bid of £30 (or it could have been a Buy It Now). Someone snapped it up quite quickly.

Rather curiously, I also think FISHY BUSINESS *was* released for the BBC. Unless my memory is playing tricks, I believe I had it in a big box of BBC games about seven years ago. UNFORTUNATELY, I flogged the whole box on eBay to save space in my parents' house. I decided it had to be collect BBC OR Electron games, but not both.

Thanks.

28. Complete BBC (Audiogenic)

We've discussed this one before? I think at least a couple of us have it ...

Are you meaning "Galactic Intruder" (or sometimes Intruders)? The box I've got (scans uploaded in submissions) says "Cosma GALACTIC INTRUDER (c) SOFTWARE FOR ALL 1983"

263. Peter Scott Trilogy, The (Top Ten)

I have the original tape of this here, it contains Pandemonium, Network and Yoyo which I believe are already in the archive.

Cheers boys, I have added the comments above for Complete BBC and Peter Scott Trilogy
@Richard, Invaders by Software for all is mentioned on page 5 of issue 2 of Acorn User. I don't know any more than that!
I am just looking at it now.
(See the new thread regarding this brill scanning project).

Ah, I was wondering where the new inspiration was coming from! Good idea ... and now that I look at the advert, it doesn't seem likely to be related ...

Hi All,

133 Miner by Ixion is definately on my disk 079.
208 Robo Brain. A game called this is on my disk 057. Not sure if it is by Proxima or not.

Also 065 Egg by Crystalsoft is the same as Chuckie Egg 5 and is another upgrade package IIRC.

Anyone come across a copy of Jet Pilot from Comsoft. It was mentioned in one of their games along with other titles that were released.

Ideally we could do with uef images of the tapes for the archive.

Hi Dave,
Were those Elk versions or Beeb? As I believe they were different (mode 7)...
Can anyone confirm if the Beeb version exist on uef or DSD anywhere?

You're correct, they were Elk Versions . . . And I can't remember if the 'original' BBC versions were there or not. I believe I did have them, at some point!

Hi,
I have just been looking through the list of MIA games.
I have updated it to reflect the latest discoveries - (Highlighted in RED) (Halfway up this page).
Some other queries are also highlighted in RED.

One thing I was wondering was whether some of the compilation tapes are genuinely MIA as usually the games are already archived seperately.
Below is a list of the compilations listed as MIA.
Could anyone confirm the contents of any of these please.
Thanks,

Lee.
