Acorn User 1995 March issue cover CD

Post by arcraith »

Hi all, I'm looking for an archive of the cover CD from the 1995 March issue of the Acorn User magazine. If I'm right it should contain a copy of an old game called Grey People Eaters for the Acorn Pocketbook II (or Psion series 3) that I remember playing years ago. The game file should be something like GPE.OPA. Does anyone know where I could find this?

This is a scan of the magazine issue, if it helps: https://archive.org/details/AcornUser19 ... nUser9503/

Entry number 3 in here? (at work, can't check the adf directly)

(alternatively, go up a level and you'll find the CDs listed)

EDIT - yeah, it is that disc. Hooray for the archimedes live website. 8)

Thank you so much!!! I downloaded it off the Archimedes Archive website, and after extracting the game file, was able to run it on the S3AEMUL emulator via DosBox. It's a little difficult to play because the controls aren't very responsive (maybe can be improved by tweaking dosbox settings) but it's super nostalgic. I think I was like 5 or 6 when my dad had a Psion 3a for his teaching job, and one of his students installed a bunch of games on it for him, including this. According to the Acorn User issue mentioned above, it was based on a BBC Micro game called Purple People Eaters by a different person, but this version was renamed Grey People Eaters because the Psion couldn't do colours.
