Well, this game is a completely different kettle of fish, err...bugs.

It's a bit tricky though because you can't move while shots you have fired are still on the screen. This results in a variable lag when you press a movement key after firing. Hard enough to hit those little bugs anyway!

Apart from visiting the Post Office to drop off various Beeb bits I'm selling, it has been a quiet season (ahem, day) so I put it good use, torturing a squirrelly Beeb with hot air and freezer spray  I had an afternoon of playing Bug Blaster out of frustration. Yeah, this one is definitely buggy, there's some kind of weird lag between pressing SHIFT and the gun firing and it seems quite random, the movement keys are very touchy, probably linked to the random firing lag. Then there's the random speed-ups like it isn't controlled via interrupts... I managed to work out a strategy that let me get a decent score. Oh, if you've got Econet, disable it before playing this game as it crashed with "Bad program" when I went to enter my first score...

Got a bit further - it' s a nice little game - Return would be better for fire than Shift.

Well, I don't really like Centipede clones but I've had a few goes since coming back from a short holiday. I don't think I'll get any better than this score, but there are a set of circumstances in which you could go on virtually forever. If those circumstances don't occur, you're limited to a reasonably low score.

The only comparison here is that I also don't think I'll get any better than this score!

I've always liked this game, a good Centipede conversion for the Beeb. Here's my best so far ... 49642

Bit of a boost, I got stuck on a level where the snake was kind of trapped along the botton and left side and I couldn't get down far enough to pick the segments off until it start working it's way back up to get me.

I'm throwing the towel in on this one  my fingers have stopped working  (so have my eyes) It is super repetitive, but somehow addictive too. Hitting the spider dead-centre gives 900, I didn't realise the scores for the spider were different #-o

Probably my last go on this game. The game is far more about luck than skill. The only way to get a big score is to try and make the centipede get stuck in a loop along the bottom (usually by almost filling the left-hand side of the screen). From there, it's just a case of trying not to get killed by the spider or the fleas. The fleas can scupper you by adding extra mushrooms that can alter the path of the centipede sections though.

I don't like a couple of things about the game, mainly the collision-detection (especially as I've seen shots pass through a flea and not harm it at all) and the erratic firing mechanism.

Had something similar - centipede segments walled in over on the left in a way that I couldn't get to reach them, and they couldn't seem to find a way out.

The Superior PIAS re-release fixes that for you

Remember feeling a little cheated that this came bundled on a Play it Again Sam comp - such a shallow oldie taking up the slot that could have been given to a richer Superior original - but it didn't actually disappoint. Plenty going on amidst all the action, which soon turns brutal!

Was determined to give this one a go a bit before the deadline this time - our clocks just went forward last night btw Ed, so time difference is back to what it was - and had a few few goes last night. Was quite pleased with my 36580 but seems I'm way down the scoreboard with that
