Hi Raymond, did you get anywhere with the HDD power connector? It should be a standard molex one I believe?

Something like this would be sufficient, taking care with polarity and orientation of course: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222097028180 (never bought from this seller, but there's plenty of other similar connectors available).

Once you get things up and running, it would be great if you could grab a backup image of that disk.

What's the history of that machine? How did you come by it?

Good luck getting it up and running

Hi Chris
Thanks for getting in touch, It was not the molex that was the problem there is something in the live feed between the molex and the motherboard but I did manage to solder to it , I then covered it with heat shrink to help protect it.

I have now had it running for a while and got it booting from the hard drive OK, My only issue is the pink screen I cannot get it to be normal, it was normal before I stored it away years ago, I can only think it must have come with it's own RGB lead but do not know what happened to that.
Now on AKF11 , when I checked the scart plug on the lead it was a right mess (pictures in other posts) , I am trying to learn all this but I have heard it needs 5v then it does not I do not want to damage something so have not tried, I have tried to get the right pin-out for the scart plug my lead has 6 wires pin 1 red, 2 green, 3 blue, 4 yellow Sync, 5 black, 6 white.
Pin 6 is not connected in the scart plug.

How would I get an Image of the Disc for you, I do not mind at all doing it.

I bought it years ago of eBay along with every other type of Acorn, I even Managed to get a Cambridge Work station had this given to me not working at the time but it does now.

I’ve sent you a PM, hopefully we can figure something out, assuming there’s anything worthwhile on that disk :)

Hi to everyone and thanks for all your help and advice, YES it is working.
I get an error on boot up.

Configured network station is invalid, using 1 instead & net loaded on the Icon bar, this is obviously causing the error, How do I get rid of this.

Then I can start the A305 or A310 it's one or the other.

Thanks again everybody.
Raymond

Congratulations on resolving the lack of green! What was fix?

There’s a software command line utility called setstation that will fix that error. You’ll need to copy it onto a floppy or see if it’s present on the internal hdd already. The station id is stored in the battery backed up cmos ram but cannot be set using normal *configure commands.

BeebMaster hosts a copy of setstation for risc os at the bottom of this page:

Sounds like a hardware bug, they can be very frustrating.

Glad you've fixed it =D>
