It's looking a bit bleak here so I'm adding a little colour.

I agree with the comments on here. This game is very, very bland. I can't handle more than a few games on the trot without being bored out of my skull.

Hahaha, yeah, this is quite monotonous and the artistry goes as far as the opening screen and the gameplay but zero effort expended on the hi-score and key definition code. I played it a bit this morning got 3056 whilst doing SRAM tests on the real Beeb
I see what is meant by "bleak"!

Yeh, I'm sorry guys and gals. This one isn't good, it's why I ask people when choosing games to please test them if they aren't the old 'nuggets' so we don't have this happen. I haven't even played it yet (have been busy) but I'm thinking the instructions might be the best part of this game.

I also thought the same thing when I saw the instructions and splash screen, looks interesting. Ah well, we do get these from time to time.

Yes, it's pretty frustrating, especially with the difficult aiming system. I made some progress though.

Ah, I thought the only requirement was that the game worked and had a high score? In my mind the purpose of this challenge is to play games that otherwise might not be known or even searched out.

You're not wrong on that score ManiacMiner but in the blurb I also put that you should test a game if you don't know it to ensure it suits the HSC. There have been a few that weren't great to play. My hope is that we have all 3 situations where a game has the HS, works and plays well. By play well I mean it is a bit interesting. That can be interpreted a lot of ways but you know whether that's the case by how many play a game and continuously play a game.

If I put a game in here I don't know, I always play it for a bit to ensure it's not an interest killer. That's what I mean. You're a gamer, you know what a good game looks like......

Quote from The Micro User review Dec 1 1984 "Too much effort has gone into brilliant but confusing graphics while too little has gone into the game itself, which is little more than turbo-charged Space Invaders."

Quote from A&B Computing Feb 1985 "Nothing about this game really impresses me at all. It's another slant on a well-worn idea that I am sure many games players are growing rather tired of. A lot of effort probably went into producing the complex graphics display in Laser Reflex but the results are disappointing and, at the end of the day, it's just another shoot-'em-up. Certainly not one for my collection."

Was quite interested in this, as that screenshot looked very cool and it had very unusual gameplay.
Sadly, not interested enough to read the instructions or to have more than one go on it.

Score: 452

Great to see some lesser-known titles popping up though. Had never heard of this one!

High Score Tables Updated for Season 22, Round Four......

This is a new one on me and several others I'm guessing. I'm a bit disappointed in the game, it had potential but the opening screen and graphics are truly the highlight of this game. Game play is pretty boring really. This is attested to by the fewness of players participating in this round.

Once again, we have a winner and that is not the usual man, it is Rod C . Congratulations on an excellent score and win Rod. You outstripped us by quite a bit in this one. =D> =D>

On a side note I'd like to thank all those who played this round. We had 8 playing this game this round so.....Thank you!!! It seems we are mostly averaging out at 11 so this participation is way below average.

As usual please check to ensure I've not missed anyone's scores because it's easy to miss things on this and I really don't want to do that for anyone's hard earned score.
