Moved up a little more. There is a rhythm to this game and when you find it, it moves the score along nicely. I didn't think I'd ever do more than a couple thousand in this one....

This is one of those games where you could go on for as long as your trigger finger can handle. My wrist started to hurt after this effort.

I was a big fan of the original ZX Spectrum version of Cookie. This is an interesting variation. It mostly seems slower but once I got used to that some things were surprisingly fast.

I found I had to be careful not to run into the flour-bombed ingredients as the didn't move away from me as fast as in the other version.

Also found that if I flour-bombed the bolt thing horizontally, they'd bounce left and right more consistently that on the other one, so I could leave them bouncing and just reflour them occasionally, and they weren't much of a threat.

The fish bones seem less predictable though

I'm not sure how the scoring works - my score seemed to go up a lot faster after I passed the first level.

Top score so far: 9640

I was happy to find you can press Escape to skip the music at the start of the game - before that the delay was getting pretty frustrating.

But Escape on the music when the cake bakes ended the game and showed a weird screen - interesting but not something I'll want to do again when I'm trying to do well in the game.

I had a look at the Spectrum version, it has better collision detection and the objects that are "floured" behave differently and everything feels more predictable. The Beeb version is rather rough around the edges in that respect, the dodgy collision detection and the music, oh why, the music - why not play it whilst waiting forever for the game to load? Save some RAM to improve the game? I've been playing it on and off for a few hours and to be honest I'm done with it now.

Thanks, I did eventually figure it out from pure desperation

I guess the music was less of a pain later on, as the time between game restarts got longer. I thought of the music as "punishment" for not being good enough #-o

Like I said, you can pretty much go on as long as your trigger finger or wrist holds out. There's a massive flaw in this game though; one that was pointed out quite early on by Sidewayrum. You can stay in a central position over the bowl, just shooting everything into the bowl. You'll quickly get to 99 ingredients needed but you can stay there indefinitely, as long as you stay alert. Your score won't rack up very quickly on level 1, but if you do it on level 6 your score will climb much more rapidly. You also get an extra life for every 10000 points you accumulate.

For example, one of my early scores of just over 9K got me to level 8 when I was trying to progress through the levels. It got me thinking, when I was seeing scores much higher than this from much earlier levels.

Anyway, this is my final effort. It's not a bad game but design flaws and bad collision detection soured it a lot for me.
