Grundy NewBrain AD replacement PSU

Post by Crud3 »

Hello,

Greetings from a proud Swedish copmputer nerd!

I just got a lot with a BBC Micro Model B complete with computer, printer, manuals and software and also in the box there was a Grundy NewBrain AD in nice condition together with a manual but without PSU.

Looking through eBay I could not find anyone selling a NewBrain PSU. Then I started looking through the technical description and schematics plus chasing through the interwebs to try to find if anyone had made a replacement PSU for the NewBrain. No luck there either.

According to the technical manual the three voltages are +7.5 VDC @ 1.2 A, +13.5 VDC @ 0.3 A, -14.3 VDC @ 0.05 A.

My questions are:
- Are those voltages the unloaded voltages produced from the NB11000/1 PSU?
- Could I use another PSU (switched) with +5 VDC @ 4 A, +12 VDC @ 2 A and -12 VDC @ 0.5 A and just create the correct cable to use as a replacement PSU?

Or if anyone has a spare PSU for sale that would work for me! :)

Regards,
AJ
