Re: Booking thread: ABUG North, 26-28 Jan 2024. Manchester (FULL!) Reserve list open
Hi, any room for one extra please on Saturday afternoon? As I'm local-ish, I thought I might pop by and say hello. I don't intend to bring much, so no need for a table.

I've only just remembered this! Would it be ok to drop by on the Sunday, just for an hour or two? No intention to bring any hardware to set up, just to pop out for half a day and catch up with peeps? I can bring some spares and bits if anyone needs something?
Thanks, Mark.
Thanks, Mark.

Sorry to mess you around, Carol isn't feeling well, so we won't be able to make it after all.

What's the deal with rough table sizes? I'm not planning on bringing quite as much rubbish as I did last time but would like room for a couple of beebs with monitors and a large laptop.

PS: I can bring a table if that helps

I think they're 4 foot. There won't be room to bring any more. It's not like Camberly unfortunately.dominicbeesley wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 12:26 pm What's the deal with rough table sizes? Are there sufficient tables for all the listed attendees? Should I bring my spare two?

If it helps I'll only have a laptop with me so don't need a full sized table.

Is there going to be an Econet at this binge? I will be bringing Econet Station 112, last seen pushing up the daisies at a Camberley ABug last year, and now merely pining for the fjords, but I wasn't going to be bringing anything else Econet related, especially with the availability now of the all-in-one Pi Econet bridge, with its built-in file server, clock, termination, hub, teasmade, crossword solver, Peltzer bathroom buddy, solder station etc.

I hope they'll be something to plug my new a4 econet card into, it would be good to actually try it!

I'll bring my PicoNet Bridge and PC PicoNet adapter. I can also bring an Elk Econet and an ElkWifi if anyone's interested in trying those.

Is anyone interested in seeing the Agon Light, Olimex Neo6502 or Colour Maximite 2? I could bring those along as a curiosity if anyone's curious?

I've only just become aware of this event. Will there be anyone there on either Friday or Sunday who can replace the C68 on my A5000? If so, I would like to request to be added to the reserve list as I am fairly local to the event. For your efforts I can either pay you for your time, or you are welcome to anything from my trades list.

I can do that for you. I imagine Friday will be quiet, also likely Saturday morning. It'd be nice to meet you. I aim to be there for lunchtime on Friday.
C68 being faulty with your 8MB is still just a guess, so we may also be able to do further debugging if that proves ineffective at resolving the issue.

That would be great. It would save me all the hassle of having to send it back to CJE for repair, plus I have loads of ARM assembler questions for you!
@danielj - please add me to the reserve list for Friday. Not sure what the procedure is for that but can pay upfront if required.

Is anyone interested in seeing an Apple II Europlus up and running?
Alternatively if I've just committed an act of heresy by asking, you'll find the pitchforks and torches by the door, Mavis is serving cups of tea and coffee and has the lighter for the torches
On a less heretical bent, I'm trying to get a Tandata TD1100 Viewdata terminal working - if I succeed I may bring that along, possibly with a Telstar connection.

Questions about software preservation (BBC, RISC OS or other platforms)? Please feel free to ask.
Currently looking for RISC OS software to archive and preserve, please drop me a PM if you have any to offer.

(We often see a smattering of not-Acorn kit at ABUG South - for me, it's fine and it's interesting and of course no-one is forced to look or discuss. I've brought a CPC, I've seen Apple and a Speccy, I'm sure there have been others.)

Hi, I think Daniel missed this. I've updated you onto the list. Tricky is unable to attend now, so you've made it straight onto the main list, I'll PM you the payment message shortly.wmd wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:31 pm That would be great. Video of the entrance / accessANYBODY THAT HAS PAID A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE EVENT DON'T PAY FOR PARKING!
I've agreed a discounted rate and am covering this from £90 surplus ABug funds from previous events.
Those of you that have PM'd reg nos will be passed over to the hotel but if you can also enter them at reception please. Then on Sunday the hotel will tally up the amount due and I'll pay them.

It's up a spiral staircase with no lift?I?!
Re: Booking thread: ABUG North, 26-28 Jan 2024. Manchester (FULL!) Reserve list open
As per the video there are regular steps through two doors on the left hand side as you walk in. I'll be on hand for the duration to help anyone carry things up on the Friday/Saturday and back down on the Sunday (please come and find me/ask for me). I'm not going to have a setup myself, just there to support.
I should have mentioned this sooner (it's been a nutty couple of weeks), apologies, it might be worth de-packing any CRTs or Winchester 130s!

Sadly something has cropped up this morning that means I won't be able to make it this weekend. I hope everyone has a great time - I'm gutted to not be with you.

Apologies, but I'm now going to be tied up with work stuff for most of Saturday.
Happy to donate my table to someone else although I appreciate it is short notice, so if anyone can make use of it that's fine with me - perhaps BeebMaster could use it to isolate anything that might spontaneously combust or let out its magic smoke?
Julian.
