HFE files on Linux

Post by msknight »

I have a Gotek drive and the USB contains a dsd image in hfe format.

I've tried a few solutions and failed. hfsexplorer, although being java, won't recognise the hfe file. HxC Floppy Emulator doesn't want to install/run either with Wine.

I'm trying to get my Elite save game out to play on BeebEm, but that doesn't seem to want to mount hfe images... or I could be doing it wrong.

Grateful for any advice please.

I have no idea about the state of HFE support in the Windows version of BeebEm. I am pretty sure the Linux version does not have it.

B-Em does have HFE support. The emulator likely to have the best support for it is beebjit.

yes beebjit is the best emulator to run HFE files, certainly the windows version of BeebEm does not support HFE, also b-em does works with HFE images.

Thanks. So I can use these to load the hfe image in drive 0/2 and another image in 1/3 and copy the files out. Great stuff!

Thanks for the help.
