Where do people get little FPC cables from?

I have this 30way FPC cable which clips into little flappy molex connectors. As you can see it is corroded quite badly and doesn’t really connect very well. I thought that since it is just a straight cable with nothing fancy it should be quite easy to find a replacement. It seems not! This one is only 2.5cm long. I think a longer one would be OK but it would be a pain to squidge a very long one into a case. Do people make these with some kind of kit or are they custom things?

Errk! That does indeed look like it would do the job! But at nearly thirty quid would not be an economically viable repair

Right. I was just checking I'd understood what you were after. These things are very widely available in general (perhaps not that short length) - check your search term "FFC" (Flat Flexible Cable) not "FPC" (Flexible Printed Circuit) though? It's generally possible to buy a wider one and chop it down, too.

Ah, changing search terms does indeed make a difference. I've ordered a 10cm one which I can hopefully squish into the case. If not I can get 5cm ones from AliExpress. Cheers

I think you are right! This is an option if the 10cm cables don’t work. The problem with the likes of Farnell is I rarely order enough components for the postage to be worthwhile. I need to do more, or maybe more sensibly, less electronics

Not pretty at all, but it does work and the case closes. Decent trail camera saved from landfill
