A score to get started with, I very much like the animations and art style in this game, the puzzles can be a little fast and luck dependent but a very playable game.

9/10 Quacks

Another interesting, fun game I have never played before. Two things I am absolutely besotted with, being able to move side to side (like a sky diver) when in free-fall and the ability to drop through the bottom of the screen to come drop in at the top. I played a bit last night and again this morning, almost lost my mind on level 7, but figured it out after a few deaths. I couldn't beat last night's score though #-o

not particularly brilliant score yet, but hopefully will get better as this game comes back to me.

There was an updated new version I had on my ipod years ago, very faithful to the original game too.

Just as I remember it, bloody infuriating!

Here are a few efforts from me. As some have mentioned, the game's a bit fast and luck dependent and there can be a few too many things going on at any one time. There's also the fear of shooting bubbles to contend with, as if you do you'll miss out on the vast majority of the points available. If you do try rampaging through the levels gung ho you'll just get a crappy score to show for it.

Animations? Not something I thought this game would ever win an award for, as the only animation I see is on the ducks feet

I think, for the purposes of the HSC, it's best to just forget that there is a fire button.

Some of the levels - such as level 7 - are really make or break. Without a good run of bubbles there, you are screwed.

Anyways, here's me for now: 6080

Take a close look when Quak dies, it's quite a nicely animated sparkling and bulbling effect.

Also everything is moving around quite smothly which I can appreciate the the effort that's gone into programming it.

Otherwise you're right there's not a lot animated, but what I have seen I thought was well done =D>

Still stuck around level 7 but not getting a better score...

An increase in score and a level increase to 12, which I'm sure I can get past, eventually.

As Cybershark points out, some of the levels are make or break, for me it's level 3 and level 7. Level 7 just isn't fair at all with the bubbles randomly appearing under you to ram your head into the waiting spikes. There's absolutely nothing you can do and that's not good game design. Level 9 is pretty tricky too because there's just so much going on that you have to take in.

I totally agree with you on level 7 Venger. Most of the time I get through level 3. I have more trouble with the 2nd level of all things. I think it's just the speed and unpredictability of that level.

I've seen level 8 4 times now and finally got a slightly better score. Once you get decent at the levels your scores tend to be 'minimalist'. The alternative is to not get through too many levels......

This is what happens when you have a really bad level 2. I was down to 0 lives on level 2, got my extra life on 3 and continued on to level 7 where it is either do it or die.....I died.....

I'm at level 10 now. I remember this from last time too so I still have a ways to go. Past the time allotment on this one last time I almost got to 10k, I think 9700+ points then shut it down. I think I must like this game in spite of it's many quirks.

I noticed that Team17 produced Qwak! towards the end of the Amiga era https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYy3YAuPy9I looking at the gameplay, someone liked shooters as the Beeb version positively penalises you for shooting anything, wild murderous ghosts replace simple, slow moving critters and there's no "use-the-force" bonus... I might have another stab at Qwak! this weekend, it's looking marvellously wet again - yay!

Well done Ed, I had a play through of the levels past 11 using the passwords, anything past 13 is very difficult and super random I found, very dependent on both skill and a lot of luck which makes losing lives super easy

Level 13 in particular I found very difficult to get past due to the random lift spheres causing havoc with the movements of the baddies, the next 2 levels 14 & 15 were difficult and very exact and punishing but doable but by the time I made it to 16 my nerves were freyed and I didn't continue further.

Now to string all those levels together... :-k ](*,)

Level 16 looks a total nightmare. I've gotten to that one with passwords too. It just makes you think how difficult the ones after that will be. I don't think anyone would be able to complete the game by legitimate means.

I got a little curious as to how hard the last few levels would be. Starting off at level 21 (password: ENAMEL) it took me 28 minutes to get past levels 21, 22, 23 and 24 with countless deaths. There's no way anyone would be able to complete the game in one go. Not much of a celebratory message either :x The game just rolls over with no visible increase in speed (even though it says the the baddies are madder now).
