High Score Tables Updated for Season 21, Round 6......

This is a very decent puzzle platformer that has definitely got a few unfair levels (can you say 3 and 7?) but otherwise quite a good game. Levels past 15 are almost impossible to do in sequence from level 1. Personally I really gave a strong effort in trying to catch Venger and came very close but......level 15 was my nemesis. Sometimes the levels are very easy.....once you know the solution, that's what eluded me.

Again, we have a winner and that is, with a nice score of just under 14k (a great score in this game) Venger. Congratulations on an excellent score and win Venger. =D> =D>

On a side note I'd like to thank all those who played this round. We had 10 playing this game this round so.....Thank you!!! It seems we are mostly averaging out at 11 so this participation is a bit below average.

As usual please check to ensure I've not missed anyone's scores because it's easy to miss things on this and I really don't want to do that for anyone's hard earned score.
Ed...... :-)

Am I just in time to register a score? Think so before 9pm.

I had t dismantle all my gear so first chance I got to give this a go. What a great game, if only I had more time.

See Ed's fallen victim to the discrepancy between UK and CAN daylight savings switchover.

Here is a last ditch attempt from me. Was nothing stellar but it did bump my previous up by 1k - score 7030

Oh cool! I just fired this up and got stuck in. Looks great, personally, I'd prefer a palette for each level, obviously not an issue with a standard Beeb.

Nicely done, although I found it curious that you didn't ever take advantage of the potions monster freezing effect.

After tnash's question about alt levels or a screen editor I slowly broke down the level structure. Didn't consult with sbadger or the author to see what resources they may have available as I enjoy the challenge. Wasn't sure I'd write a proper level editor myself but things are going rather well so far, so I may go the distance on it :D

Have progressed from a simplistic MODE7 display of the level data in hex form:

To a BASIC program that fully recreates the levels in their native MODE2:

Just need to add the edit-ey bits now

Apart from level 14... Honestly, I don't think it lasts long enough to be of much use on most levels. I'd rather put it to better use by changing the spikes into items for points.

Ah yes, so you did
Honestly, the meagre points given away on the levels are hardly worth losing sleep over. Potion (freeze) doesn't last long but does enable some quick shortcuts to be made, without fear of death :D

This may be of interest - it's the Elk levels of the game patched into the Beeb version:
Qwak_ElkLevelsonBeeb.ssd
(200 KiB) Downloaded 12 times

As can be seen here, the Elk game ran substantially slower so, in an effort to balance things out, additional hazards were introduced from level 4 onwards. Obviously that makes playing them at full speed quite a challenge
