Just booked as it's looking more likely than not I'll be able to attend :D

I'll be bringing at least one Electron and a small LCD monitor.

Great - look forward to seeing you. It seems that Electrons will dominate this session!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it over but if anyone
has a Wi-modem and terminal software to hand on a Beeb or other system
I can leave the Night Owl BBS host up so you can dial in.
I'll even put up an inaugural ABug Scotland Viewdata frame for the occasion.

just let me know.

cheers

I will confirm on Monday whether I can attend. I hope so!

I don’t think I have anything special to bring though, unless anyone wants to drive a Valiant Turtle around the floor?

A wi-modem connects your retro computer to the Internet primarily using Telnet/TCP-IP.

I have one of these connected to my Beeb. Night Owl uses similar but uses the Pi as a wi-modem
using it's Internet connectivity.

https://www.cbmstuff.com/index.php?rout ... duct_id=60

This video is a good demonstration.

There are others available although admittedly getting the right lead sorted can be a pain.

https://www.simulant.uk/shop/retro-vint ... compatible.

You can access Night Owl from an Arch or PC , Pi if you have Viewdata terminal software .
The Night Owl thread in the Communications section points to some ways to do it.
There is also terminal client software available at John Newcombe's glasstty.com , link below

Thanks Brian,

I notice there is a real pig of a storm coming - storm "Babet" bringing very wet weather on the day (now a Red weather warning for Angus and south Aberdeenshire = advisory not to travel in these areas), lasting Thursday and Friday. So not great conditions for travel or transferring equipment from your car into the venue, however Falkirk weather today (Thu 19th) is not so bad - winds have dropped and light rain.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/warnings/weather

I'm happy to carry on without postponing, but please check travel before you leave and bring covers for your equipment to keep them dry!.

The good news is that I'm opening up the building early at 7pm - so feel free to come earlier. Thanks to DaveLecky who will also be here early to help set things up. We have the space ready to go.

Image

Equipment list so far....

- Tosk (Paul) :  BBC B Micro with MMC and new version GOTEK.
- Ramtop : At least one Electron and unreleased hardware.
- WalkerWorks : Electron clone -  including Slogger +2 and Jafa Mode 7 Mk2.
- IanJeffray :  Bringing a couple of 'unusual' machines.
- DaveLecky : Bringing a couple of Electrons with upgrades and various cartridges plus an upgraded Atom (if it starts up)
- TheCellarTroll : BBC B Micro and Valiant Turtle
- AndyMc1280 : Acorn A3010
- Potential : AndyMc1280 : Turdyten and a serial cable @IanJeffray for some Lotus action

My thoughts are just to carry on.

If the bbc say it’ll be stormy then probably be ok.

Might be even worse next week.

We can only expect wet cold windy weather in Falkirk….especially in Summer… :D

Happy to go with the majority feedback.

Paid As well - emailed too.

Now I just need to confirm the A3010 works (If it doesn't Ian Jeffray will kill me  .) Also do you know if the monitors (in the pictures of the place) support ancient VGA connectors? If not I have a small dell monitor I can bring, but it would save a faff.

Weather and M8 etc [-o<

May need some help at Falkirk to mount (wheelchair) and carry stuff :D Its not much, but I'm bad enough on my own lol. Have sorted accommodation for afterwards with a friend so I don't have to drive back to Glasgow if weather is minging. lol.

Looking forward to it.

Happy to help where I can. I'm bringing my wee Samsung TV which has connections for everything but isn't very happy at 15khz, but I can bring my 15Khz "compatible" Acer monitor too if you like. It weighs very little and I'll have my work van which carries plenty :D

We will give you hand when you arrive Andy. Give us a text or call once you have parked.

There's just one monitor on the desks at the moment and this belongs to one of the co-workers at the hub, so off limits.

Great. The weather in Falkirk this afternoon is not as bad as thought, winds have dropped and it is lighter rain.

It doesn't look bad at all down there. Bit pishy up here (on the hillside above Aberfeldy) and getting worse! Had hoped weather would stay east, but it didn't. A9 won't be fun, so I will give it a miss this time. :-( Hope all have a fun evening.

I totally missed this thread and the registration process.

I was planning on turning up tonight until I saw this thread - is there still room for one extra ? (Happy to pay on the night)

Well, that was good. And nothing much more than drizzle to dampen things - storm? What storm.
Thanks again to @Tosk for organising. =D> Venue was easy to find and access - plenty of space.

The time flew by and I didn't even get to say Hi to many folks - we could have done with a wee 2 minute introduction from everyone perhaps. How many were we? 10?

If we meet again in November, I'm guessing that may be the last for the year (December's usually very full) so how about we try and find Christmas themed things to show? Music, art, 'demos', games, whatever?

Agreed! It was a very pleasant and most excellent evening, and very nice to see some of the people behind lots of the mind boggling projects that are going on. Thanks for arranging it!

Shame my beeb turned out to be sick. Shame on me for just assuming that the serial port would work

I’m out of the country for much of November but I’ll certainly come to the next if I’m able. Perhaps by then my turtles can draw a snowman [-o<

I shall be more prepared for the next one. :^o

Thanks again.
