Personally I would say Wallaby is the very worst, far worse than Mr. Ee! The other 4 games are probably just preferences of people but I'm going by the comments I've seen on those games, 'bug reports' as it were. Anyway, interesting topic.
I think you got the wrong end of the stick Ed, as nobody has really been bashing Mr. Ee! in here. As Venger notes, despite its shortcomings, it remains very addictive
MatthewThompson wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 7:56 pmI remember Mr Wiz too, didn't think it was too bad, but then I saw Mr Ee, and that was it, no contest so much better, interesting there was a version on the Archimedes called Mr Doo - which wasn't much better , so I think Mr Ee was the best version of Mr Do on the Acorn machines.
I only just found that there' s another (con)version out there too. I had high hopes from the screenshots but it really crawls - the only way I could play it was on an emulator set at 2x speed. It also has a bunch of idiosyncrasies all of its own - try getting even a single EXTRA letter and you'll be in for a rude shock

I didn't say it wasn't addictive, I just said it's got some flaws and they are quite noticeable and it mostly has to do with the diggers but also with poor key control........just saying.

I've been playing some more today and the flaws are becoming quite irritating. Mainly the requirement to fire being holding the key down until it does. This makes me want to install a pedal onto the RETURN key whilst keeping focus on where I am going and what the baddies are up to. I managed to get the baddies stuck in a 90 degree turn next to an apple, very weird. I've still not got close to my original score, the RNG seems to be an all-or-nothing affair.

I definitely agree with the RNG and "all or nothing" bit. The amount of times I've had to press Escape because I've lost a life early on because a baddy's turned into a digger without warning is unbelievable.

Same here. It's a good game but it does have it's flaws......

Bravo, Ed. Quite a hike there
I've had countless more games since last week but have been unable to beat my previous score - or even pass scene 11 again

I think that's the perfect description of this game
my first time playing this: 2150 points! will hopefully improve that!

Lover of all things acorn, but especially the 8 bits!
- bbc b issue 7 with econet- electron issue 2 - microvitec cub 653 - amx mouse -
i like to use as much original hardware as possible, and only use disk and tapes!
I haven't been able to improve my score but thought I would post a screenshot of this strange feature which I've now seen a few times. Suddenly a steady stream of falling dead baddies start dropping, one at a time from the top, passing through everything as they go. The game continues as normal and the only thing they seem to interact with is the ball which bounces off if you try to shoot one.
There's also a couple of digger artifacts stationary at the top near the score and letters.
Thought it might have been a bonus challenge at first but no such luck.

Yes, I have seen those too Rod as I'm sure others have as well. It's kind of cool actually.

We need a picture of your score though before we can post it, if you would do that please......
sorry dont have a pic! there’s hardly any point in posting it anyway as its a tiny score!

High Score Tables Updated for Season 21, Round 4......
This game was very frustrating with the diggers just 'deciding' to turn 'on' whenever they wanted to. They were supposed to do that when they were blocked but the programmer's idea of blocked and not blocked are certainly different than mine. There was also a bug that Rod mentioned. I had that one too and I bet anyone that got that far in the game also had that bug. Having said that, I found this game both addictive and enjoyable in spite of it's quirks.
Again, we have a winner and that is, with a nice score of over 150k Venger. Congratulations on an excellent score and win Venger.
On a side note I'd like to thank all those who played this round. We had 11 playing this game this round so.....Thank you!!! It seems we are mostly averaging out at 11 so this participation is average.
As usual please check to ensure I've not missed anyone's scores because it's easy to miss things on this and I really don't want to do that for anyone's hard earned score.

Apart from the looping crushed creature, there's an even more frustrating bug and that's when shooting something when you've created a staircase, the diagonal shot just goes through the thing you want to kill... It was a laugh to play, like most games, there is no "end" and thus it gets a bit tedious. So anyone know what happens at 999,990 or scene 99? I bet they wraparound, so an entire day's play would be literally for nought
