stardot running slow?

Post by james »

Hello

Is it just me or is stardot a bit treacly at the moment? It’s taking around 7 seconds or so for any new page to open.

Edit: just to confirm the rest of the internet seems fine

I blame the Russians. Fancy them having a go at us at the same time as the air traffic control.

Yep, running quite slow this evening. Posted twice by mistake because of this.

I was about to start a new thread when I saw this, it's certainly running slow for me with pages taking upwards of 10s to open and new posts taking equally long.

Similar for me this morning with about a 10 second lag to load a post. Committing this one took around 30 seconds.

Just to weigh in... last night the MB Index failed to rebuild properly because it didn't successfully pull all the ZIP files.

So, to reduce overnight load, I'm going to disable the cron job rebuilds this. Hopefully the site will stabilise soon and I can re-enable the job, but until then I don't want to make things worse.

Yes, me too *. slow 😢❗

At first I thought I was the only one because I had problems before.
See: viewtopic.php?t=27414
Luckily I found this thread, now I don't feel so lonesome anymore 🥴.

Some *. pages even remain completely empty 🤯❗

Honestly a lot of bots in the forums at the moment. Right now I see Ahrefs [Bot], Bing [Bot], Bytespider [Bot], Google [Bot], GPTBot [Bot], Majestic-12 [Bot], PetalBot [Bot], Semrush [Bot] and YandexBot [Bot].

Don't know what half of them are, but it'd be good to sort out the bot group permissions a bit if they're dragging things down.

Something is bogging down the Apache process. Restarting it gives a temporary reprieve, but I'm looking into what's causing it.
The bots really aren't hammering the site as much as the "currently online" suggests. Something else is amiss I'm afraid. I'll keep looking into it and if necessary restart the apache service when things get slow, at least until we can figure out exactly what's going on.

A thunderbolt near you and a keypress near me :D I suspect the keystroke had more to do with it, unless you subscribe to chaos theory :D

There's a large butterfly that keeps landing on the other side of my window with a thud this past week or two which is a bit startling, but I've not noticed any particular correlation with website speeds :D
