I will stand it up for you this evening or whenever.
Traffic has been very slow whenever I switch on ( especially at weekends, no one visits at all really).
Will be more frequent I hope if the messaging can be sorted out.

So pleased to finally announce that (the Night Owl BBS)
is now a MESSAGING capable bulletin board.

It's taken a while but now have a simple but efficient messaging
facility that is going live tonight. My sincere debt and thanks to
Chris Royle for crucially helping this towards fruition.

The BBS has had a number of enhancements in terms of access methods
lately. Folks can access now via TELSTAR, vd-view , Cutel and a JS link.
This is the icing on the cake. Call tonight and tell us what you think.
Will be live around 7.45pm. Thanks to all the callers and supporters
of this project so far.. You made it worthwhile.

Yes, that was me. I had to make a cup of tea, but didn't want to lose my slot. Sorry. The sort of profligacy only the super rich would consider when it was pay per minute. I'll try again tonight.

No problem... there have been several bot attacks of late so I was wary of let's say
questionable behaviour. I saw you were reading the About section and then went quiet.
The system will disconnect if it goes too long without a key press.

Previously to you there were a couple of attempts from someone who tried to
avoid typing anything in for a Username etc.. I am fine with new users obviously.
I don't need any real details from anyone. I just don't want some anonymous character coming in
and actually hacking my router while pretending to browse the BBS.

There is a firewall setup which should prevent any mishaps but I 've been surprised at the
amount of attempts like this especially on a BBS which up to now hasn't been up very much.

The board will become much more regular now in the evenings. Actual schedule
will be probably each evening (officially 8pm to 11pm) but will likely
be earlier and slightly later in reality. Just cant guarantee I'll be home to log it up
every night promptly hence the narrow uptime window.

I'll look out for you tonight. From what you wrote are you connecting via Dialup?
That will be great if you were. Chapeau

Thank you Brian. By the way, that person trying to get in prior to my first attempt, by just hitting RETURN rather than entering a name was me. I was thinking perhaps it wanted something specific to let me in, so I was trying to get in without doing that.

Hugely impressed with what you've set up. I'll visit again, but I hugely enjoyed both areas of the gallery. The full screen mode is the icing on the cake. Makes me want to run it through a CRT screen.

Was only viewing through a web-browser though this time.
