Acorn System 3, Flex System Software

Post by John_Newcombe »

I am trying to locate the Flex System software that was created for the Acorn System 3 (with 6809). I know discussions in the past have not located it, but thought that it might be worth asking again in the hope someone can help locate it.

I don't know it. I have FLEX running on my own 6809 board. I used the Flex Adaptation Guide to get it working. It's possible to write some routines to handle keyboard, display and disc I/O to get the FLEX OS working on Acorn System 3 (or other systems). Keyboard and display might be simple because you can easily translate the systems routines to 6809 code, disc I/O might be a bit more complicated - but still doable.

Unfortunately I don't have a system computer to work it out

Thanks for the reply. Trevor Hamblet has since sent me some details including some PROM changes that shift the VDU and OS in the memory map. When I get chance I'll try and get something implemented and post the details.
