22 levels  I'm not close to that  although I did have a laugh when I tried playing it like a normal platformer, death, death, death, death, death - and realised I seriously needed to pay attention to those pixels! Still, with 22 levels there's quite a lot of game to chew on. Does the game behave any differently after the first play-through?

I'm also struggling with the controls and precise timing, but this was a good run for me ... I got to level 5. Best score so far: 880

Why does the game randomly click the cassette relay, sometimes during level 2 and also in the demo mode when it cycles through the levels?

No difference the second time around that I could see, definitely not in difficulty level. I don't even think that the timer goes down any faster, although I didn't really notice as I don't hang about when completing the levels.

I'm a bit surprised at that, because it's pretty straightforward. Seeing as it's you though, here's a quick video to help.

Thanks Venger, I thought it was that way but haven't been able to make the jump. I guess I'll just have to practice it until I do. I knew that had to be the first one to get and then jump down to the door from the top. That part I got, I just did it first which I knew was wrong, but only because I couldn't seem to make that first jump properly.

Watch Venger's video a couple more times and you'll get it. The keystrokes are very tight so it's an acquired learning but I'm sure you can get it. 80 points means you have picked up 2 objects, they are worth 40 points each.

I did watch the video thanks, before that I had no clue what I was doing

I guess ive lost my pixel-perfectness I had when I was young :( which might explain why I could play the arcade lady bug years ago very well but when I tried it recently I just kept jamming on the walls :(

Yes, this one is pixel perfect and it took me a while to get the timing of how the jumps work but I've got it now.......I'm sure with some practice you would too. It's a very good game really.

I totally agree with your sentiment that it's a great game. It might not be for everyone but it's got good level design and is a very capable platformer. I think what puts people off is the sensitive controls. A little perseverance does wonders though. I think some people quit before giving the game a fair run. I think I paid £7.95 for it, back in the day, and I definitely didn't get the feeling of being ripped off at all.

Back from my holiday it took some persistence to get going again on this game. Some particular moves are so tricky with the timing! Anyway, I'm now making some progress.

The only game that made me cry... as a 13 year old. Utterly painful experience.

Here's my first go this morning. That jump key remains unforgiving, 35 years later

So guys, I tried to get away to Kamloops today but had too much to get done and my body hurts now so will go tomorrow. As soon as I get up there I will look at this thread to update it to finish off season 20.

In the meantime I have posted the next game so it's not like you don't know what's going on.

Have fun!!!!

Made it into level 9 but only a small increase in score. That's the way it goes.

I found an interesting feature in level 4. If you don't collect the item at top left, it disappears when you collect the last of the others, you get 80 points and the door opens. I don't think there's any real advantage though as it's an easy jump to get that one. Maybe it helps with timing to catch the platform at the bottom earlier?

You can collect the top item and still get to the moving platform in one smooth, but quick set of moves.

Hey Ed, when you say "you can" you clearly mean you, not me!  I can do the smooth, quick moves but they often lead me to my doom instead of the platform. It is a great game though!

In my final tries I got the door open in level 10 but didn't manage to exit. I was still below my best score anyway.

Don't feel too bad, I got to level 9 and lost all 4 lives and didn't collect a single point. There's probably a jump that I'm not seeing properly.
