First run. Got to track 3 and failed miserably. I'm used to playing the Master version and manage to knock loads of racers off on that but the standard version, I think I knocked off 10-15 in total.

First few goes from me. Great hitting the riders off their bikes at the start and it not affecting them at all, as they still overtake you  .

I forgot how brutal this game is in that if you crash a few times then you're knackered. Still, it's a nice little change from the platforming and shoot-em-ups, which is why I picked it.

I've been playing this off-and-on over the last few days (my improvements attached - I've still got a game of Space Pilot on the go as well  ) A few things I have noticed; the corners come in two flavours - 125 and 134 MPH, you need to be on the side of the corner, e.g. if it is a left-hander, be on the left - as you need to drift, more all-or-nothing handling... It feels very binary, all you need to do is work out the speed of the bends (125 or 134), be on the correct side of the road and push hard - as every single MPH matters. I've got to say, this is the first time, riding a motorcycle that I've seen a bike disappear around the bend of a racetrack when it is going 1MPH/1.6KPH faster than me  If you start to venture "off-road" you're massively punished - you'll lose at least five places and well, given the mechanism for overtaking the other bikes, you'll struggle to regain the position and of course, your distance on the circuit and thus your chance of overtaking more bikes, diminishes fast #-o I eventually got to Silverstone and came 22nd - it's a fast circuit and I can't make a single mistake to get into the top 6  My favourite track so far is Misano - primarily because it is so frustrating! Oh and when taking a screenshot, do it on name entry before hitting RETURN as it starts flickering like crazy and sometimes the score doesn't come out (or the name!)

I might see if I can improve, I have to keep at it otherwise I just get too rusty and it takes too long to get back to the same form again  besides, I am trying to build a replacement video ULA for the now NINE Beebs that have a duff IC - I found one with duff SRAM in such a way as the colours don't flash, a problem in Cybertron Mission (the most important application!) =D>

The scoreboard flickering only happens on the Enhanced version. :)

Scraped through in 6th on Brands Hatch; that track is solid to qualify on even if you have a near perfect run. I've had runs where there were no crashes or major mistakes and I've still come in in the teens. Misano's quite tricky by the looks of it too.

Ah yes, I forgot we were supposed to be playing on the standard Beeb version - I got carried away playing the M128 version #-o

Oddly enough, the Beeb version feels easier, I did Silverstone on my first try. I just throw the bike into the corners, squealing like a stuck pig, no matter how fast you're going, the sideways slip is exactly the same, so you're punished for not going hell-for-leather... Misano is definitely my favourite, it feels like a motorcycle circuit, the others feel like Grand Prix circuits, I think that suits my motorcycle mindset better :D I got through the Nürburgring and was given the "word" Amusingly, I've driven on that for real (Nordschleife), thankfully the handling of a real car and bike are much more forgiving  Alas, I'm still no further with the video ULA replacement though...

Yeah, I was playing it initially like any other motorcycle simulation, aim for the apex, lean into the turn, throttle into the corner, allow a little drift, onto the straight up and open up. Tried that and I wasn't getting far, so I tried the arcade approach, say a left hander, go as far left as the game will allow, 150MPH into a 125MPH corner, then let it drift to about 1/2 way then reduce speed to 125MPH and just one jump into the screen straightening out, throttle up and use the remainder of the corner. Rinse and perfectly repeat. Seems to work for me, I did pace notes for each circuit consisting of left/right and A/B for speed, you are not penalised for staying immediately to the left or right (you won't hit anything) and move side to side to persuade the RNG to give you more bikes, that way you can get to 1st place and not worry about bikes in the last 1/5th of the circuit (sometimes)

I was feeling the same way as it's not my cup of tea, but after reading some tips above and getting inspired I decided I needed to get past the first track at least. It's rather a good game if not a tad brutal in its punishments for mistakes but still technically impressive for its time. See you in the skies Ed
