Here's a starter score from me, played on the BBC Micro games archive emulator for a change. What can I say? Space Invaders is Space Invaders. Not the best Space Invaders clone I've seen, but not the worst either.

I think they got it wrong. It's number 1 for a terrifying experience!

I know it's pretty early on in the round but I don't think I'll be able to squeeze much more out of the game than this. The aliens get progressively faster and lower to the ground when starting off levels and you have less reaction time to dodge the bullets.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh! I absolutely love Super Invaders 😍🥰

I've been playing TI Invaders (not with the shitty TI joysticks!) and getting very good at it

Back to the Beeb - I can get onto the 3rd wave before finger numbness, eye shape deformation and pure chance, plus the speed and drop rate of the aliens (and their uncanny ability to drop a bomb on both sides of me) kills me. This is my fourth attempt, not close to my best ever, but not bad.

It's a simple game, with simple strategies, when the aliens move to the left, kill all left and vice-versa. Then, when the game speeds up, cull the lower levels after trimming the ends, then kill what's left. Pay a lot of attention to saucers in early levels, it gives a big boost in scores. Later levels, you'll need to shoot in advance further, as the aliens in Geoff Crammond's game (a bit of tour de force in coding) means the aliens move in step with each other and don't "slide" over each other. You are heavily punished for inaccuracy! Extra life at 5k and 15k but no more (I didn't get one at 50k, so I'm not expecting one at 150k)

Last score 57450

Seems like I may have been a bit hasty with my last post. A few more goes today got me just above 40K. After the first 10 levels, the levels repeat themselves, with level 11 being a carbon copy of level 1 but with the aliens moving faster (they start at the same height too). If the levels hadn't repeated then I probably wouldn't have gotten much more than 20K.

Quite a good increase, but really annoying if you don't manage to get the last invader before it lands, I had 3 lives and game over because it landed, don't like that and that fact the last invader gets so fast , really annoying but other than that good fun !

Another few goes this afternoon yielded this score. It's surprising how quickly you can lose lives in succession though.

Ah, just like I remembered from marathon sessions BITD, no more lives after 5k and 15k and even better, something I didn't remember, score resets to zero at 100k... Nice. Another cheese I forgot to mention is hiding in plain sight... The program can only drop a certain number of bombs at a time, so when you see six bombs on the screen and they're not near you, then you have a small window of opportunity to shoot without chance of death and leave - just as military training for snipers says - only a few shots from one location.

Definitely! I died at 00320 because I exploded in expletives at the realisation of clock-over on the score (something I had forgot about since BITD) I should have guessed, given the lack of zeroes that it would happen, but I assumed it would offer a new life at 105k and when it didn't a pile of expletives and my mind lost track and went over the cliff in a fireball  and with that I was finally dead. Try as I might, I haven't been able to get more than 80k since... #-o

Wow, I'm really bad at this one (was never much good at Space Invaders to be honest).
It taken me several goes to get this score.
