Re: LOLPRICE
lol indeed! I spotted that one earlier.
Make the nicely boxed one I've got look like it's worth a fortune! (Especially as Dave keeps eyeing it up..)
It's a great service, freecycle !!

Re: LOLPRICE
Cost new around £400 in 1985! Er, so did the BBC Micro ...but they go for about £ 25, not £ 250!
You know guys, the way things are going we'll soon need to club together to buy some of this stuff (actually, that's not such a bad idea ... it sure beats bidding against each other)!

Re: LOLPRICE
IIRC The Micro User was selling these off for something like 60 quid a pop on their reader offers page in the late 80s...

Re: LOLPRICE
Now, that has to be wind-up!
OK, it's still "factory sealed" ... but "very very rare"? ... I must have a pile of at least twenty kicking about here somewhere!
... yeah, about 50 pence!I am open to offers - I've no idea how much its worth! But I know its probably worth quite a bit

Perhaps someone will make an offer of 50pence

Re: LOLPRICE
Who knows, maybe the guy will get lucky. As they say, "there's one born every minute" (... it's just that I haven't yet met anyone that foolish yet when it comes to selling my own gems!)
Anyway, I've added it to my "watch list", just for the craic, as it were.

Re: LOLPRICE
Hehe I see what you mean.
I've actually baught stuff from Lees cameras in the past, they use to be in Holborn before moving to Camden Town, but selling a VIC 20 for this price is like selling a disposable Camera for the same price as an EOS 10.

Re: LOLPRICE
Surely being offered for sale, and actually being sold ... are two different things!
OK, the guy has mentioned that the Vic has been in everyday use. Fair enough.
But perhaps his real "crime" is not checking out the going rate for similar machines!
So ... to save him the trouble, here it is. £ 15. £ 30 max (that is, if he can excite more than a single bidder). OK, sometimes the data-cassette recorders can sell for about £ 10 by themselves. So that's it, £ 40 top whack (but I won't be making an offer myself)!
I notice that his postage costs are a bit OTT as well.
For a more realistic example, see:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0371134312
I rest my case!
Meanwhile, I notice there are three Commodore PET's on there at the moment. At proper auction starting prices, I might add.
And this Plus/4:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0369969446
... which, of course, was a piece of crap. But that's what makes it so rare ... they hardly sold any!

Re: LOLPRICE
These have been up a few times and he still hasn't cottoned on that they aren't worth anything NEAR what he is asking...
An elk for £100 (link) and 5 very common Acornsoft games for £80 (link), another 3 with the Introductory Cassette for £50 (link)... not even all the common (given free with elks) ones are there - Desk Diary and Snapper are missing. So basically £10-15 worth of stuff for £230!

Anybody got bottomless pockets and want more than a few games?
Take a look at item 170375488366 for a large lot ... BIN £10,000 !
Mind you, there are 1,407 items in there .. Nothing acorn, though. Pity.
Not that I have £10K to spare. . .

Re: LOLPRICE
Or, for the slightly more reasonable price of £15, you can have a cassette copy of the "ULTRA RARE" game, Elite ! Item 220470498853
Even I have a copy of elite, somewhere, and I'm not really a games person ..

Re: LOLPRICE
The SS disk version of Elite went for thirty-three quid yesterday...
Re: LOLPRICE
Superior Software still sell their version brand new for less than £15 as I recall ...

I bet the seller's happy though (not to mention "her indoors")!
Now I'm wondering whether I need to get my own Wedges on there.

Re: LOLPRICE
The wedges have been going for ridiculous prices just recently. I've been outbid on at least 3 and my top bids were all £80+
Re: LOLPRICE
I've noticed this too, mainly the few months (this year?) they seem to be fetching a LOT of money generally...elaverick wrote:The wedges have been going for ridiculous prices just recently. I've been outbid on at least 3 and my top bids were all £80+
