Unless that's a dig at the pricing, probably not. Numerous countries employ the comma and point (or dot) in the opposite sense to that used by the United Kingdom and numerous other countries.
LOLPRICE
Re: LOLPRICE
I think what Ukwebb meant was that the seller might have entered the price with a period decimal point, into a system that uses a comma decimal point. I think it might be simply that they've not entered any decimal point.

Erm, I don't really even know what to make of this one. Can it possibly be genuine? £575 for an old PC floppy drive cable
But don't worry! It can be careful sent via DHL

Re: LOLPRICE
Someone probably adding items to take advantage of a free listing event. Note the "TMP" reference they've put in each item, they'll edit them later and replace with the correct details.
Re: LOLPRICE
Ah! I've previously wondered about listings where people have at least stated the actual item for sale but then said something like 'more details to follow' - I was always confused as to why they couldn't just list it with the details in the first place but I suppose a work-around to the free listings would make sense.
I'm going to guess that this guy's TMP reference thing probably breaches their terms. I had a brief issue where a whole load of items had what looked like a UUID as their description and a load of random words.... They happened to be triggered by one of my saved searches and spammed the results for a couple of weeks.
Re: LOLPRICE
I think it's probably as you say someone creating placeholders for proper adverts, probably to take advantage of a reduced final valution fees event rather than free listings, they're pretty common .

I get an 80% off fees offer pretty much every two weeks but it only lasts a few days.

This may or may not qualify for a LOL Price (Subjective of course)
Regardless of that can someone please explain the appeal of Atom other than, I assume fewer than the rest of the range were produced?
This example does look in very nice condition, but I am truly struggling to comprehend the winning bid, plus postage!
Cheers H

Re: LOLPRICE
Perhaps https://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4321 could be extend to include Atoms?
Re: LOLPRICE
You can probably find estimates of the number made if you dig hard enough, but direct comparison won't tell the whole story. There's a lot of BBCs around because schools carried on using them for 10+ years and they built a big legacy (and also sold-off or gave away those machines when they'd finished using them), while Atoms, popular enough when they were new, soon got superceded and thrown away.james wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:34 pm Perhaps https://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4321 could be extend to include Atoms?

Re: LOLPRICE
To be fair, it could be that they don't have a suitable monitor for it e.g. one with Analog UHF. Yes *WE* know that you can get composite mono from PL4 but they might not....and still might not have anything that accepts that.BeebMaster wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 8:20 pm "Not able to test" = not able to push plug into wall and jack into Atom ??
It's still LOLPRICE tho.

Well there's the price someone's asking, and the price that people are willing to pay, and sometimes their distributions are completely disjoint.flaxcottage wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 1:22 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276354886486 ... R5qe66q9Yw

£90 is crazy but I don’t remember seeing one of those on eBay before which makes it ‘rare’! Apparently at least.

No, sorry. My profligacy is at an end. I am hanging on to the remaining Acornsoft languages due to fond memories from BITD using them for teaching. If any more come my way and I can remember who asked I'll let you know.
