P65Pas looks like it could be interesting for development

Post by SimonSideburns »

I was browsing around on Facebook and found some software that looks like it could be interesting for developers who want to write in modern systems (PC, etc.) and who are familiar with Pascal.

The software is called P65Pas, and I did a quick search on the forum and it would appear that nobody has mentioned it before.

While the author is obviously more familiar with the C64, it does appear that someone more familiar with the BBC Micro could help him with BBC specific code.

Anyway, the link to the software on Github is https://github.com/t-edson/P65Pas and while I haven't downloaded the software yet myself, I will be giving it a look to see how it works in due course.

I'm hopefully able to paste in a link to an image of the software on the Github site:

Has anyone else seen this? What are your views, opinions, experiences of the software?

No, but before I stopped writing for the Atari 8 bits, I had intended to look at the well regarded MAD Pascal https://atariage.com/forums/topic/240919-mad-pascal/ (GitHub link in the top post) which is somewhat similar.

Looks interesting. And, being Pascal, right up my alley.

EDIT: And written in Lazarus, so can be compiled for most systems.

I've been playing with this - not actually using it, but trying to get it to compile for multiple systems. Had to fix a few bugs first, but I've managed to get it to compile for my usual 8 systems and have forked the project to host these binaries. Tito (the author) may incorporate these changes and binaries into the main fork.

There are two branches - the default is 0.7.8 while the active one is 0.8 (version 0.8.9), which is the one I've been working on.

EDIT: This might be useful!
