Not so credible sources (the Banana Ketchup thread)
Re: Not so credible sources (the Banana Ketchup thread)
Escape from Orion 2 from Hopesoft:
As I said back in 2015:
viewtopic.php?p=114358#p114358
SO.. I believe this is a mix-up caused by 2 slightly different versions of "Escape from Orion" called "Escape From Orion 1" and "Escape From Orion 2".
I can't find any evidence of a real follow up to the original game....
Lee.

RISK from Leisure Genius.
This 1989 advert from C&VG shows it wasn't released for the beeb and I can't find any other adverts that are a bit vague, or mention the beeb in relation to RISK. Lee.

Vixen from Martech...
I cannot see how this got on the list.
Here is the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vixen_(video_game)
The only thing I can think is a C&VG review which stated "available for all formats" https://archive.org/details/computer-an ... up?q=vixen

Mordon's Quest from Melbourne House.
CASA have this as a BBC / Electron release https://www.solutionarchive.com/game/id ... Quest.html
but other sources do not?

https://www.mobygames.com/game/mordons-quest
Gareth? Aran? what do you say?

Re: Not so credible sources (the Banana Ketchup thread)
Perhaps an error, I don't recall seeing a BBC Micro reference... but I'll see if I can dig anything up.
Edit: I can't see any references to a BBC version, so perhaps it was added in error. They did do a Beeb version of Abersoft's previous game, Adventure 1/Classic Adventure, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility, but it seems less likely that Mordon was ported given it's not appearing in the magazine archives.
Re: Not so credible sources (the Banana Ketchup thread)
Thanks Gareth.
Space Fighter from Program Power.
Program Power *did* release a game called Space Fighter for the Acorn Atom.
A game called Space Fighter that had very similar graphics to those depicted in the Atom adverts was released by Superior Software for the beeb.
Did Program Power release Space Fighter for the beeb though? I don't think so.

Nodes of Yesod.
Early adverts mention the beeb: but later adverts do not: I don't think this was ever released for the beeb.
The only mention of it in Acorn User is this query:

Gridrunner and Laser Zone from Salamander Software.
Slightly vague adverts like this lead to confusion. Right at the bottom it mentions quality software from Dragon, Oric, and beeb.
Not all software is available for all formats though...

Yes, as you linked to the CASA entry, James Byrne confirmed, in another thread here on Stardot, that Ashminster Computing completed about 90% of the port of Tower Of Despair for the BBC but the project was cancelled before it was released.
Well, we know that one was at least partially released on Electron User, but a full "Riverdale" release was never completed.Riverdale - Aussie Suds HIGHLY DOUBTFUL RELEASE
What the Dickens is probably one to tag as a doubtful release, from Riverdale though.

Hopesoft's Paul Shave is around, so might remember.Hopesoft - Atom Man (For the BBC), Escape From Orion 2 HIGHLY DOUBTFUL RELEASE
There's adverts, but I don't think we've got evidence for the release of that on any format at all.Adventuresoft - Sword Of The Samurai HIGHLY DOUBTFUL RELEASE

Spectrum artwork... https://archive.org/details/Crash_Magazine_032/page/96/
mention.. https://archive.org/details/your-comput ... /page/n57/
Edit: From the Classic Adventurer interview with Mike... never released, sadly...
We got a long way with Sword of Samurai, into playtesting
with that - there was a finished product. We had the artwork for the
adverts and everything and it was all ready to go when we got hit
with cashflow problems.

Alien Syndrome and Soldier of Light (as mentioned recently in another thread).
Cheers to Fuzzel for digging up this news clipping from The Micro User - November '89:

Some time ago, I searched everywhere and turned up literally nothing. I have no recollection of it at the time either.8bitAG wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 4:58 pmPerhaps an error, I don't recall seeing a BBC Micro reference... but I'll see if I can dig anything up.

Here's reference to the up-and-coming game, Nelson by The Design People (Design Design according to TMU). Tanks was released (reviewed in TMU Jul-87):
