I hope this is the correct forum to post this.

I recently came across 'Elite - The New Kind'

A great job updating the original, from what I can see.
Though I've not played it yet.
Why?

Well, I played the original Elite on the BBC Micro and used a Joystick to play.
Maybe you were good enough to be able to use the Keyboard, but I was not.

So, my point is, why put in all the effort to update and add colour, but not have a Joystick option?
Seems strange to me.

Yeah, I played it though on keyboard a few years back (when it was 'banned' by DB!). Using left handed keys ain't easy (says a right-hander who never has a problem with scissors/cheque books/can openers etc etc ).

The source code was kicking about somewhere when I looked. I guess it'd be an option to include joystick support, or there's probably a joystick-to-keyboard mapping utility somewhere...

From memory, it uses the Allegro library for graphics and I/O so it should be fairly straightforward to add joystick support.

I've got the source code somewhere as I started looking at porting it to the Pi co-pro.

From memory, it uses the Allegro library for graphics and I/O so it should be fairly straightforward to add joystick support.

The simple answer is, I don't own a joystick. I have an xbox controller I use on my PC and have thought about adding support for that, but that's probably not the same as a joystick.

The last joystick I owned was a Quickshot 1 I used on my Electron, technology has moved on a bit since then though.

What kind of joystick do you have?
