All-day 'Virtual' Acorn session #13, Saturday 3rd April 2021, 9am - midnight (BST)
Final schedule added.
When myself and host Mark Usher had a dry run through the Econet/SJ Research presentation with Andrew (arg) on Tuesday, it soon became clear that the talk warranted more than a single timeslot. In fact, we felt it required the equivalent of three timeslots(!), hence we've dedicated the entire afternoon to the talk, which will now be presented in two parts.
Note that both Part 1 and Part 2 will feature a QA and there will be a half hour break around the mid-point.
We're really grateful to Andrew for preparing such an extensive history of the early days at Acorn including the formation and development of Econet and its introduction into classrooms, whilst also providing a remarkably detailed account of Cambridge-based company SJ Research, which was founded by Kim Spence-Jones.
We've got three first rate talks on the agenda for the 3rd now, so please sign up soon to guarantee your spot and avoid disappointment - currently only 8 places remain and at present, we are not intending to offer a reserve list for this session.

Hi folks,
If possible, I'd like to get a little bit of time in the morning with the experts to discuss some of the CPLD space constraint challenges I'm facing with my project, and to get their thoughts on where I should go from here. Happy to take this to a week day evening meet if that would be more appropriate.

Thanks
Ken

Thanks to Alan and Martin for sharing their memories of TBA Software, the RISC OS games development/software publishing company they ran with Matt Dulson between 1993-1997. Some astoundingly good games were demonstrated, the TAG/Holograph titles (Formula Two Thousand, Cobalt Seed, Mirror Image and the [sadly-unreleased] A.R.L.) seemed to easily be on-par with console titles that would have been produced by much larger development teams.
Here's a copy of the presentation that was shared during the talk ... video to follow, though I've got quite a backlog of videos to edit at the moment so don't hold your breath!
We look forward to welcoming them back to future ABugs for the 'sequel' (and possibly the 'prequel' too! ).

I could only catch the afternoon session, but it was definitely worthwhile. Thank you Andrew Gordon, that was a very interesting talk that you gave
And of course, thanks to the back room team that helped make it happen

Yes, thanks to Arcadian, the speakers, IDESINE and all involved in organising it. It was another great day. I love hearing the stories of what things were like in the industry BITD.
