Also mentioned on the A&F 'Copter Capers advert from Micro User October 1984.

Just came across this site on AnF which mentions SNARL-UP was never released

Unfortunately despite selling over a million copies, the cult following Chuckie Egg had received couldn't keep A'n'F Software afloat indefinitely. Snarl-Up for the BBC Micro never appeared and, finally, in 1985 the company went bust. Some remaining A'n'F-branded Electron stocks of Chuckie Egg and Cylon Attack eventually turned up as a free gift for Electron User magazine subscribers. When other development studios were being gobbled up by publishers, A'n'F struggled in vain to meet the demands of advertising rates and distribution prices.

Inferno also had a review in Computer and Video Games magazine, September 1987 (archive.org). Evidently it's a game made with Graphical Adventure Creator:
Computer and Video Games wrote: ► SUPPLIER: VANADIS SOFTWARE
► MACHINES: BBC DISK
► PRICE: £14.95 inc P&P: MAIL ORDER FROM: 37 JEUNE STREET, OXFORD
► REVIEWER: JOHN 'LOONY' YEATES
► QUICK GUIDE RATING: 8

Go to hell, say Vanadis Software! You've been dumped in Dante's inferno, and must get out. Dante's map of Hell is provided, but the scientist who dumped you here says it is out of date (I didn't know Hell had been redesigned!)

Two flippable 40 track disks sounds like a lot of adventure, until you discover that it's been written with GAC, and it's split into four parts. Thai means you get pictures (yaay!); but also that the games are smaller

The graphics are most jolly. I never knew Hell was so colourful! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way of killing them, despite the fact that GAC supports this feature.

Inferno has quite long atmospheric descriptions (maximum 255 characters), vocabulary is adequate, and a list is even provided. It Is a pity, though, that you can't SAY (answer) but have to ANSWER (answer). The text at the start of part one suffers badly from typos; another bad point Is that some commands simply have no response whatsoever. And there is a bug in part two — do not press COPY.

With a few humorous moments, on the whole Inferno is one of those SERIOUS adventures.

**EDIT - Deleted from the MIA list - The advert says the expansion packs are for the Spectrum only!!**
Page 16 of the BBC manual doesn't say Spectrum only, but on balance the manual probably just changed LOAD to CHAIN...

Minefield from EDUQUEST (I am unsure what the WCC is, but maybe the W is Windsor as the retailer is listed as Eduquest / Windsor in the adverts index of Acorn User).

A copy of this tape has been found on Facebook.
A WAV has been created and there is an attempt to get it working.
EDIT: The game has now been recovered.

ACNEAN MUTOIDS and COSMIC DEFENDER from Soft Joe's Software.
Screenshot 2024-03-27 180508.png
This advert is from Home Computer Weekly May 31st to June 6th 1983.
The advert was only found after ACNEAN MUTOIDS was discovered on a disc!
Therefore only COSMIC DEFENDER is missing.

This advert is from Acorn User November 1983 from David Tarlton.

This advert was only searched for after Quest and Chalice were found on a disc!

Therefore, we are looking for Vampire Castle, Demon, Demon Dream and Revenge.

I googled David Tarlton and BBC Micro to see if I could find any further info about these games.

1 additional 'hit' turned up (a link to a PDF of the March 1984 edition of Micro Adventure magazine).

However it didn't mention anything about the games, just a User Group that David was setting up:

However elsewhere in the magazine were references to three other BBC Micro adventure games, not listed on bbcmicro.co.uk:

Mediaeval Adventure and Fantasy Adventure from Dial Software (£4.95 each or £7.50 for both) at Dialsoft, 72 Downend Road, Downend, Bristol BS16 5UE

Volcano Island, £7.00 from Saturn Software, Sycamores, Somersham, Cambs

... searching for more references to Dialsoft brought up an ad in A&B Computing March/April 1984:
https://archive.org/details/AB_Computin ... ew=theater

It includes Fantasy Adventure but no "Mediaevil Adventure".

It does have a Four in a Row game advertised (should that be listed as missing on the site Lee?). There's also a 'Golforama' whatever the heck that could be (Golf sim?).

Looks like adventure quiz, golforama & four in a row are all on the same disk in the flaxcottage Educational Archive?

Chalice is by Andy Mitchell.
Chalice was sold as a pair with Vampire Castle.
This Vampire Castle is by Andy Mitchell: http://www.bbcmicro.co.uk/game.php?id=1746
I am guessing the magazine game was picked up by Acorn User/Micrograf and they are the same game??
