All-day 'Virtual' Acorn session #11, Saturday 6th February 2021, 9am - 11pm

Post by Arcadian »

The monthly all-day "Virtual" ABug meeting for February will take place on Sat 6th February, running between 9am - 11pm (and in likelihood, beyond midnight).

To reserve a place, please respond in this thread and advise which session(s) you think you'll be able to attend (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).

We intend to cap the event at 50 places. Presentations are usually (but not always) recorded and tend to be added to the ABug.org.uk website - and now Youtube - within a few weeks of the event.

The all-day events are more structured than the weeknight general sessions, though there are still opportunities for general discussion amongst the attendees so if there is something you'd like to talk about please post in the thread so the appropriate session chair(s) can take note.

If you would like to reserve a place, please respond in this thread. If you haven't already consented to receiving the Zoom logins in the form of a calendar invite sent via the ABug Google account to the email address you have associated with your Stardot account, please explicitly give your consent when posting. This will mean that the Zoom logins can be issued straight to you, without me needing to go back and ask for your consent. If you have a different email address associated with your calendar, please PM me to let me know the email address you'd like us to use. Or, if you would prefer to receive the Zoom logins via PM, please just say so.

The all-day events are more structured than the weeknight general sessions, but there are still opportunities for general discussion amongst the attendees so if there is something you'd like to talk about please post in the thread so the appropriate session chair(s) can take note.

Important Info

  • Please note that text chat within Zoom will be disabled during presentations (when a presentation is ongoing, it will only be possible to leave questions for the speaker [via the host] using Zoom text chat).

However you can use the #abug-chat channel on the Stardot Discord server to discuss active presentations. The Zoom text chat will be reopened after each presentation has finished. More info here.

  • During the Q&A sections after each presentation, we will initially only accept questions that have been typed into the Zoom text chat (always use the Zoom text chat to raise your question(s) if possible). If there is still time remaining within the slot we will accept questions from the floor, but please ensure your webcam/video feed is turned on ... or, if you are on low-bandwidth, please ensure that you have set a profile image.

  • Please create an account on Zoom in advance (as this will enable the addition of a high-res profile image) and then set a profile image that would ideally feature at least your first name and/or forum handle.

Pre-created profile images are available here. If you're new to Virtual ABug events and would like a custom profile image to be created for you, please send a PM to Arcadian.

More info about why we request that you set a profile image is explained here.

If you've yet to attend a virtual ABug event on Zoom, Judgebeeb has produced a handy guide to take you through the process.

I'll hopefully get up early enough for the Pi Pico overview, but otherwise I'll be there from 1.30pm until chucking out time.

I should be able to make the late morning, most of the afternoon, and the evening. But can’t guarantee that I will be able to keep my eyes open!

So please put me down for all day
