Well folks, in spite of covid, Paul and I decided to meet using the current safety measures that are in place for our province of British Columbia.
Items on the agenda - Ed - simply learn to use my desoldering station on a broken GBS-8200 card (it's a long story how it got broken).
- Paul - sleuth out why his Italian Master Compact stopped working and robot wonders (more on that later)
- both - what else, HSC of Manic Miner.
I will share basically on the things I learned about my soldering station and I'm hoping Paul will share his sleuthing and robot adventures.
Look who's arrived at my doorstep in Squamish. What a wonderful sight after all these months.

- This is what Paul brought me. I'm reading the book which will return to Paul when I'm done but some nice other documents and a covid mask, which his wife Melanie graciously gifted me. Thank you Melanie, it's very much appreciated.
This was my first attempt to clear a hole with the new station. It took more than one try to get the hole cleared.

Attempting a new technique. It worked for 2 of the holes but the other was stubborn and never did clear, perhaps more heat.
- This is one method that kind of worked.
Sometimes you just need a friend to help. Since Paul was busy I had to employ a '3rd hand' technique....an old friend I'd say.

So, here's the first hole that got cleared - celebration time....where is that Manic Miner anyway?
- My first attempt at getting a through hole clean with the station. I could not get it open with my soldering iron. I think it's the non-leaded solder.
We also had music at this ABUG. This particular disk would play the whole set if you chose it to. It would be good to know how that is done so all the diskettes could be made to do this if any knows how, maybe they could start a thread to show this. Thanks.
