Full screen parallax effect (Acorn Electron)

Post by 0xC0DE »

Full screen parallax effect on Acorn Electron.

vlc_7uN7vhTJUt.jpg

MODE 4, multi colour, 50fps. No colour cycling tricks.
Video (captured by Kieran from a real Electron): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3L44YkBz_w

Colours are not as dull in real life, so try it on your own Electron (won't work properly in an emulator):

Edit: replaced the horrible GIF with a normal image

Very nice - just tried it on my Electron.

There's something missing which kind of limits the "3D-ness" somehow, but I'm not sure what it is. Super smooth though!

I think it might be that in order to look truly 3-dimensional, it has to resemble an actual scene, whereas what you have got is a series of "textured ribbons" moving at different speeds. Obviously I can appreciate that plotting scenery onto them is probably not practical!

You are probably right. I was thinking about that but it's going to be difficult. And a challenge for sure!
