Hi Jonathan, welcome!

New members are just as welcome and valued at the Virtual ABug events as long-standing users are.

Whether participating, lurking or a mixture of both; it's all good. :)

CommanderCoder and Jonsoft added. 6 places remaining.

Do they do online Risc os meetings/events on Zoom as well? I think I might be able to get Tony Cheal from Ace Computing/Euclid fame to come on and talk about Euclid and Arclight.

Seeing as there are a few spaces left, I'd like to attend.

As last time, I may be doing a spot of DIY or whatever that day, so likely will dip in and out (and I could turn off video if I do disappear for too long).

I'll be taking part in another zoom gathering between 10am to 11am (but I could show my face on that one and say hello, then come back to the ABUG one).

Looking forward to it, and I haven't even read the schedule to see guest speakers etc. yet.

I enjoyed your DIY last time! Good roof view - Purbrook is a nice part of the world!

There are a few example programs in the System 1 User Manual, but they're fairly functional and not very eye-catching. If you're after something a bit more "glitzy" , I could throw something together for you by the weekend. Would you be typing the program in, or using the cassette interface?

Well the Midlands user group did one last month, and the Wakefield group did one tonight. ROUGOL (err, that's me!) are thinking about it for our usual 3rd Monday of this month.

Getting hold of Tony Cheal would be great, I used to really like the design of the Ace Computing range of applications. Drop me a PM or email (see contact page on website) and we can discuss it without polluting this thread!

Here's a program I've put together for you, which is just 35 bytes to type in:

Code: Select all

0200 START A2 07 LDX #07
0202 A9 00 LDA #00
0204 CLEAR 95 10 STAZX 10 CLEAR MEMORY LOCATIONS
0206 CA DEX USED FOR DISPLAY CHARACTERS
0207 10 FB BPL CLEAR
0209 20 0C FE JSR DISPLAY
020C PRNTCHR BC 1C 02 LDYX 021C ADD CHARACTER TO DISPLAY
020F 94 10 STYZX 10 ONE PER KEYPRESS
0211 20 0C FE JSR DISPLAY
0214 E8 INX
0215 E0 07 CPX #07 NUM OF CHARACTERS TO SHOW
0217 D0 F3 BNE PRNTCHR
0219 4C 00 02 JMP START
021C ED 78 77 50 5E 5C 78 CHARACTERS
When run, it clears the display, then waits for any key to be pressed. On every keypress, it displays one additional character on the display, then loops round to a blank screen again.

It runs fine on my System 1, but you may want to test it (perhaps on speleotrove's emulator) beforehand, just to check I didn't make any transcription errors. I'm assuming you know how to program it into a System 1 and run it, but if not: just ask!

I probably won't be able to make the session on Saturday, but hope to watch edited highlights afterward. :)

Hi All

If there are any spaces left, put me down for all of the day, I’ll be in and out depending on my two children.

I've added you both to the list. (Lee, there is nothing you need to do to join, other than asking to attend - which you have done. :))

This means there is now only 1 space remaining, :D

Not done one of these before. How is it delivered? Do I need to install something to get prep'ed for it?

I would like to attend if possible just to see what goes on throughout the day and there looks to be some interesting content. Again never been on before so would just need to know how to "get connected". Zoom I believe ?

Many thanks Andy

Final schedule for tomorrow!

Image

Dave Hitchins completes the line-up, who'll be "on" at 12!

I know a few of you were disappointed when we had to curtail Dave's intro when we were doing group introductions a few weeks ago ... hence I've asked Dave if he can take us through:

- his career pre-PRES
- PRES / Advanced Computer Products
- career post-PRES
- Retro Hardware, products to-date
- Retro Hardware, what's next on the horizon

If the hosts agree you can take my place in the morning. I will attend after lunch. It's a pity that I will miss the speakers in the morning but I hope to watch them later. Speaking of which.... where can we view the sessions of the past event(s)?
