Expedition to Saqqara

Post by mrbax »

Hi there

I am trying to get my hands on documentation and software for the mid-eighties educational programme "Expedition to Saqqara" (Cambridgeshire Software House / Ginn Microcomputer Software / Queue).

Further discussion can be found on Stardot here and here.

Any other leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Michael

Hi. Did you ever play the game yourself? If so, what are your memories of it?

Getting hold of a copy of Saqqara is difficult, to say the least, because CSH are still actively enforcing their copyright even though they aren't currently selling the game:

Yes, we did in primary school. I still have the folder of letters and notes somewhere!

I remember the sound effect of pumping sand. Lots of sand! I don't recall my own team discovering much, unfortunately, just a few passages and probably some garden-variety relics.

Folks, did you get hold of a copy of this. I know where you can get it but a bit pricey.

Hopefully someone from the forum bought it. Do we know how good this game is? I figured it would be around for a while.

Can't be a coincidence that the listing ended literally minutes after you posted about it here today!

:?: :!:

EDIT: It wasn't me who bought it, just to be clear!

That cje micros is that the computer shop that has been selling Acorn products since back in the day and carries on selling them?

Finally managed to get my hands on a full copy - discs, documentation, box, the works. It looks to be virtually unused. Yeeay! :D

It is fully archived now but it is annoying that I cannot post it to the Educational Archive.

It came in a donation that included boxed copies of Suburban Fox and Round the World, all three titles from the publishers Ginn.

Sometimes good things do come along.
