ROM archive?

Is there a go-to place for BBC Micro/Master ROM images? I'm particularly interested in office-style software, word processors, databases, things like that.

TOSEC contains the majority of what you could find online a number of years ago, without any verification. There are a large number of bad dumps and hacks in that collection.

Very useful thread this. I've had a quick browse and noticed my favourite ROM from yesteryear, Ice-Box.I wonder if anyone's got a manual for this? Confession time, I used it back in the day to effectively save state so I could save my position on Repton 2, Citadel, Ravenskull etc. Not sure I could've completed them without it. As I recall it saved 3 files which collectively covered all ram &0000 to &7FFF. I think one of the files was the screen memory. Not so essential of course now I've got Beebem.

Never seen a manual. There are a few different ROM images of Ice-Box out there, and I've not been able to get any of them to do anything useful in emulation. Was it sold as a ROM, or on floppy to use in sideways RAM?

I've got an original floppy of ICE-BOX 1.40 somewhere, loads into sideways RAM. I've just tested the SSD in b2 and have managed to successfully save the state from the BASIC prompt. I'll see if I can find the packaging

I've loaded up Ice-Box 1.00 into one of the free Rom Configuration slots in Beebem. I've then set it to "Mark Writeable". This is important, it appears to use its own SW Ram (cleverly) to store data, probably zero page, registers, etc..

I've then *ASSIGNed a filename but when I try to freeze activity with Control-@ I get a little beep which sounds familiar but then I should be able to press "Copy" and it should save the memory ("Delete" restores the saved state). However, nothing happens.

Is there an all-in-one downloadable archive of acorn.huininga.nl anywhere? As per the thread subject, I'm mainly interested in just the ROMs.

I'd ordinarily use wget --no-parent to grab only that part of the site out of hours, which is what I did with bbc.nvg.org, but --no-parent doesn't appear to work in this case and wget tries to download absolutely everything. (Perhaps I'm just being old-fashioned though, and it'd actually be no problem just to set wget grabbing the whole thing. My laptop doesn't use all that much power. I can leave it running for as long as it takes...)

Thanks for these links. I couldn't make sense of the MAME Xml, is there a curated collection of ROMs that be viewed on the Web please?
For example, I'm looking for a good dump of the Beebug Master utility ROM 1.05.

Hi, I am too am looking for a single file dump of acorn.huininga.nl - did you get anywhere with this? I did email the website owner (just now - https://www.huininga.nl/index.php?module=contact) to see if this is possible. Is the owner on this group? There are some great resources on here.

That's great. I'd like to do the same for the .ssd files - did you use wget to get these files? Or can you share how you got them? If you did use wget could you share the command line you used?

Don't forget there is also the directory: https://acorn.huininga.nl/pub/unsorted/roms/

There is a command line tool 'lftp' to do this, e.g.:
