ABUG SOUTH 22 to 24 November 2019 - NOW FULL
Re: ABUG SOUTH 22 to 24 November 2019 - NOW FULL
A room has become available at the hotel for Friday and Saturday. And the WIN19SALE code works with it. So if you want to book a room at an inclusive price (with breakfast) of £75 for the two nights, now is your chance.
There is so much wonder in the universe; why should you want to imagine that there is more?
Re: ABUG SOUTH 22 to 24 November 2019 - NOW FULL
Just on the offchance, does anyone have a 74LS374 (DIP) knocking about they could yoink along? I don't think I can order one in time and it's the only other thing I can think of that might need replacing in a repair job...
Re: ABUG SOUTH 22 to 24 November 2019 - NOW FULL
I have 5 of these (used), so a good chance at least one is working.
Dave

Fab, thanks Dave - if it's needed I shall pay in pints
Just as to what's being brought - greaseweazle+drives for archive-o-rama, solderygubbins... Anything else anyone can think of?

I may well have some used vintage 1980’s 74LS374 chips. If I do have some, I’ll test a couple and bring them with me.

Lots and lots of mains extension leads...
If you attended the 2017 East Midlands ABug, your ABug mug for your tea / coffee...
If you have suitable folding tables, they would be more retro computer friendly than the pubs round tables.

I'm sure you know this but just incase.....if you are designing something new, you might find the 74xx574 more convenient as it's the same chip but with the inputs and outputs on opposite sides of the chip.....of course if you are repairing you use what was origianally in there......
I also might have a couple in one of my chip boxes......

More ICs needed . . .
I may need to add some Schmitt Buffers to the MGC MKII - I have exactly what I need . . . for production, however, they are so damned small (SC70-6) that there's no way this side of eternity that I'm going to be able to solder any wires to them.
So, does anyone have anything larger than a pinhead that contains at least 2 x Schmitt Buffers - preferably fast, Please
Thanks - Dave H

I have some 74HCT14 schmitt inverters. You could always flip the clock edge used by the CPLD.daveejhitchins wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 7:11 pm More ICs needed . . .

I also have some 74LS24x transceivers - these have some (~0.4v) hystersis on the inputs.
I'll bring both of these along.

Thanks, Dave . . . I'd have laughed at an SC70-6 10 years ago - but these days my eyes, ears and other parts are just letting me down!hoglet wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:06 pmI have some 74HCT14 schmitt inverters. Hi guys. As a noob, I'm not sure what the 'agenda' is. I see that it's a 4pm start tomorrow (seems quite late..). Is that a meet and greet? Setup time maybe...? I will probably bring 3 machines. Probably the A3000 and an Elk as I'm guessing there will be a few beebs. Not sure about machine number 3 yet.. I will try and bring something obscure . Looking forward to meeting you all.

Turn up, set up, drink beer
Re: ABUG SOUTH 22 to 24 November 2019 - NOW FULL
It's very much a free-for-all. A lot of people spend time heads-down, and a lot of people will find each other and chat. If you want to chat, make yourself available!

Objective: to have fun! For most of the event, there is no fixed agenda.loudscotsbloke wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:56 am Hi guys. As a noob, I'm not sure what the 'agenda' is. Arrive any reasonable time...
Say hello
Set-up when you’re ready...
Then either work on your projects, talk with others about their projects, drink, eat, chat, and generally have fun.
Maybe if there are items you are interested in, and there are sellers, buy some stuff. Although if there is anything specific, it’s a good idea to discuss your requirements with the seller well before the event so they bring the items you are interested in.
Then before you know it, time has got the better of us, and it’s time to pack up and travel home...

And tea.
Unless anyone expresses a burning desire in the next couple of hours, I'll not be bringing any of the dead kit I mentioned previously. I'll bring a handful of disc & Econet upgrade kits and that Lingenuity floppy disc which has come apart. Possibly also a Cumana 5.25" 40/80 track floppy drive with misaligned heads.

There is no strict start time. We have the room from, I believe, 8am. However, if you turn up then, you are likely to be very lonely for a while...loudscotsbloke wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:56 am Hi guys. As a noob, I'm not sure what the 'agenda' is. Most people arrive between 4pm and 8pm because they are coming from work, have a long way to drive or both. I am aiming to get there by about lunchtime to start setting up. If you want to come early, I can always do with some help. Either way, when you do arrive, coming and seek me out and I will introduce you to people. You can easily recognise me as I am the middle-aged slightly podgy bloke. Oh wait...

A final reminder that if anyone can bring some rectangular tables, that would be of enormous help and will definitely warrant a pint in return. I know some of you have offered (and have brought some to previous events. We need at least three - although five would be ideal.

I dropped four 6ft foldable rectangular trestles off with z0m8ied0g (Stephen) last night and he's going to bring them down in his transit along with two further trestles of his own.

Does anyone want an AKF60?
It's basically a standard SVGA monitor, 30-50 scan rate. If so, I'll stick it in the boot.

Thank you both so much. That is brilliant. Exactly what we need.
I can now officially declare that there is one full table for every attendee!

Evening,
Just getting bits together, Don't suppose anyone has a spare 22k ohm and a 75ohm resistor I could nab?
(trying to mod a monitor to accept chroma & luma)
Thanks
Stew

Enjoy yourselves guy. Just wish I could have been there with you.
Looking at the weather, it's not going to be a completely dry weekend so I maybe could have come, but the weather forecast changes on a daily basis and one minute Sunday looked fine for the bricklayer coming, now it says it's going to be light rain on and off most of the weekend.
I just wish it could make up its mind one way or the other.
I look forward to your photographs.
