Could we have a list of a few no-kitters? I see lawrie from the mystorm forum is interested. And Revaldinho could join as a no-kitter if a table space didn't open up.

I've got a couple of pasting tables I can bring.

At this stage, it would be easier for me if these people can add their names to the reserve list. As we get closer to the time, I will review the situation. My very unofficial position at the moment is that, unless we get silly numbers on the reserve list, I will be very reluctant to refuse anyone who wants to come.

Thanks. The more tables we have, the easier it will be to accommodate those on the reserve list.

I'm possibly able to bring my own fold up picnic style aluminium table (the sort you take on camping holidays), assuming I can find it in one of our sheds.

However, and I will know more once I've seen the Doctor tomorrow, I noticed I had what I believe to be a hernia when I was in the shower on Wednesday morning, and even though I am still hoping to come, I may have to cut down the number of heavy boxes of goodies I bring along, or rope in some help carting stuff in and out of the venue.

I will post an update in the next few days.

It's more important that you bring yourself rather than any kit.

There will, of course, be plenty of willing volunteers to help you unload (and subsequently reload) at the venue. But that doesn't really help in terms of how you are going to load (and subsequently unload) at home.

I visited the Doctor on Monday morning and he said I 'should' be fine to be as normal as possible in my daily activities. He said that if I was concerned that lifting heavy items would make the hernia worse that I get some sort of belt (that's probably not the right word) which is similar to what power lifters wear, and have that on while performing the heavy lifting.

I have also been referred to a specialist to see about getting it repaired while at this early stage so as to not make it worse. I'm guessing the waiting list for this sort of thing will be pretty long, so I guess I will try to be careful without doing anything too risky to make it worse.

I then promptly drove from Hampshire to Sleaford (a supposedly 200 mile and 3 and a half hour journey) yesterday, slept overnight in the van, collected trestles and scaffold boards first thing this morning, and drove back to Hampshire for most of the rest of the day. Got home around 4pm or something. About 5 or 6 hours of driving yesterday and around the same or more today. Then I had to empty the van. Quite strenuous but not too physical for too long.

Things should be good for my attendance, but if anything changes I'll try to let you know as early as possible so you can offer the table to someone else on the reserve list.

If anyone thinks they will have difficulty lifting, there are always people who are willing and able to help load and unload kit.

Afternoon all,

Would like to attend for just half a day on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Is that feasible?

I have put you down on the reserve list for the time being. However, as I previously indicated, unless the reserve list gets ridiculously long, I am hoping to squeeze everyone in. And, given that you are only intending to attend for half a day, I really can't see that being a problem.

I know it is cheeky, but does anyone feel like having a look at my poorly beeb that I have had for 35 years, or my Atom that has developed a new fault whilst at ABUG?

I'll have both ICE-6502 and the 6502Decoder with me, so happy to see if either of these tools sheds any light.

I'd like to hear of any news about its diagnosis, as it's had me stumped (from afar) as to the cause of its problems.

Payment for attendance is now due. The cost is just £15 which covers the cost of room hire; as many unhealthy snacks as you can eat; and virtually bottomless non-alcoholic drinks.

I will shortly be sending everyone a PM with my PayPal email address. Please can you send me £15 using the "Sending to a friend or to family" option. Prompt payment would be greatly appreciated as chasing for payment is not much fun.

Also, you will see that I have moved Revaldinho and vztfzc to the main list as I am confident there will be room to accommodate two extras.

I hate to have to do this, but I'm going to have to give up my table again! I really thought our situation would resolve itself but I'd rather say something now rather than leave it until the week of the event.

We've had bricklayers in at the weekends since the end of September, but with all the quite wet weather we've had the expected 6 days of bricklaying is still ongoing, and we're having another weekend of rain so that's pushed the schedule out even further. We're having a 5.7m by 10m extension put on the back of our bungalow and didn't quite appreciate the amount of time, effort, and money that it would take to get that built.

It wouldn't be so bad (after all, brickies take care of themselves pretty much usually) but I am effectively the architect and project manager and need to be around while they are working as there are some details on what they are building that haven't been ironed out yet, and we're not sure how the weather is going to be on each weekend of this month.

It's such a shame as I was so looking forward to coming along this time. I'm not even sure if I can duck out for a few hours just as a "no-kitter", so it's probably best for me to say that worst case scenario is that I cannot make it. If anything changes I will try to arrange something.

Hi. I would love to come along! I am only about an hour away, so I could easily drive up each day. I have a fair few Acorn machines, and also some very rare gems that arent Acorn. I will have think about what to bring! So please put me down for all 3 days, but driving to you each day. I will definately bring kit, so please put me down for a table. How do you want payment? Paypal?

Many thanks

Roy.

I have put you down on the reserve list for the time being as we are arguably already over capacity at the moment. We usually have one or two last minute drop outs.

A few general updates:
  • We are able to get access to the room anytime on Friday. I will probably be there from about lunchtime to help with setting up. I suspect that the majority of (the Friday attendees) will arrive later in the afternoon or in the evening.
  • As on previous occasions, most people will probably want to take their meals at the venue. In terms of lunches, it would be helpful if people could go in small groups to avoid too many orders going to the kitchen at once. You are free to eat your lunch in the meeting room and the restaurant staff are happy to deliver food orders to us there.
  • Those staying until Sunday should be aware that the restaurant is likely to be very busy for Sunday lunch and we may not be able to be seated in the restaurant. You can still have access to the full carvery, even if eating in the meeting room
  • In terms of dinner, especially on the Saturday, we will be having dinner in two sittings. All of us going for dinner at the same time is simply not feasible. Menus will be available throughout the day and it will be helpful for people to pre-order their food and to decide in advance whether they want to go for the early or the late sitting.
  • Please remember that no alcoholic drinks or hot food may be consumed at the venue unless purchased from the restaurant/bar. Free snacks, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be available throughout the weekend.
  • The venue has only 26 rectangular tables. I would be very grateful if anyone who as access to some tables could bring them along. Ideally, I would like an additional 6 tables. The venue has plenty of round tables; but these do not work well for our setup.
Please feel free to post in this thread or PM if you have any questions.

I should also add that the hotel is now almost fully booked. If you are planning to stay at the hotel and have not yet booked, now is the time to do so.

Booked my room today.

It said 1 double and 1 twin left at the time, although I only booked Sat to Sun. So no idea if was any left for Fri-Sun.

Hmmm. I wonder how accurate that it. It said 2 doubles and a twin free before I booked a room. And still says that. Maybe someone cancelled.

I've been thrown another ball to juggle, so I'm going to have to pull out of ABUG South, so there's a place free.

After missing two, I'm more determined to get to the next one.
