I think this was the first game I ever played on my Electron back in the 80's... Ahh, fond memories when games took 10 minutes to load off tape :-D Although I must admit the little intro tune and sound effects are much better on the Beeb.

Our third time playing this one - it is a classic, though; and I won it last time so I'm not complaining :)

Still got a bit of a way to go to reach my previous score:

Struggling on this one... like last time we played it.

Have a question about play style, do people try to shoot everything as fast as possible and progress through levels? Or do you wait for everything to come down in formation and try to pick them off mid-flight for the higher unit score?

Either way, I can't seem to score above 4-5k... need to find time to have a concerted attempt.

@FS,

My method is to go as fast as possible and when the triple big formation comes, try to achieve that 800 score.

As you can see from my score, I am in the same boat as you, a sinking ship.

Low score but I managed to get the 800 bonus a couple of times.

Found a video that helped with my technique... slightly: https://youtu.be/0xtJrq-SpVs

Nooooo! I was having a fantastic game... completely in the zone, got to level 8, score of about 19,800, beating my scores from the last two times we played this. Game over, I do alt-enter to put it back in windowed mode for a screenshot, and the whole PC locks up solid :(

Sigh. I'll have to have another go then, but not right now.

Can anyone help me remember the name of another space invaders, please?
You started off with a very small spaceship but after the first level you could dock with a larger one giving you more fire power, then after level 3 there was another docking station. Ring any bells?

It does ring a bell, don't think it's Mooncresta though, but, can't think of the name right now......the one I'm thinking of has really bright music and mode 2 style spaceship in it, does that make sense?

Just played Moon Cresta to be sure, and now I'm not sure. It could be Moon Cresta TopCat but also another one that I remember that played similarly but maybe a clone......

That's why I was confused....there are 2 of them and they are essentially the same game. Yup, think that's what I was thinking about.
